With well over 6,300 articles, this fourth edition of The Encyclopedia of British Film is a fully updated invaluable reference guide to the British film industry. It is the most authoritative volume yet, stretching from the inception of the industry to the present day, with minute listings of the producers, directors, actors and studios behind a century or so of great British cinema.
Brian McFarlane and Anthony Slide's meticulously researched guide is the definitive companion for anyone interested in the world of film. Previous editions have sold many thousands of copies and this fourth edition, with an introduction by Philip French, will be an essential work of reference for enthusiasts interested in the history of British cinema, and for universities and libraries.
Phenomenal reference to all things relating to British Film. This is the first edition published in 2003, since updated. See my review of the fourth edition (2013). I've still kept this old one, especially handy when looking up entries I know haven't needed to be updated. This volume also has the bonus of 32 pages of film stills and portraits that don't appear in the latest edition. If you can't find a later edition grab this one because it is absolutely fabulous!
