It is wonderful to finally discover an extraordinary piece of literature that portrays the principles of both Male and Female Energies in such an enlightening and entertaining way!
At the young age of 8 years old, I had a Life Changing experience that will forever remain etched on my heart, and an Inner Awakening that set the pathway for my future spiritual journey. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I only witnessed the negative energies of the male and female; but truly believed with all of my heart that there were positive aspects of both these principles just waiting for my discovery.
Through all my years of spiritual searching, I have now found what I have been looking for in this amazing book, ‘THE ROSE & THE SWORD”. The exercises although optional, are well worth taking the time to complete as they will bring you “inside” the experience; and open up the Portal to your own relationship with these powerful principles.
I believe we all possess both the Male and Female Principles and learning to work with all aspects of these inner dynamics on a daily basis, will not only expand your mind, but open your heart and soul to the life you have always dreamed possible.
A heartfelt thanks to the authors, Judy Bach and Nanette Hucknall for creating this amazing piece of fiction and offering me a key to integrate these powerful Principles into my own life!
I received this book as a part of LibraryThing’s giveaway program in return for a review.
I thought this was a well-written book. It is constructed as a series of parable-like fictional case studies, followed by commentary and either meditative or active exercises to apply the lesson of each chapter. I haven’t yet had the time to try the exercises, but they seem quite useful and well within the abilities of even someone relatively new to the self-reflective experience.
Initially, I was thinking that the examples were a little too heavy-handed, but as the lessons unfolded, I grew to really appreciate the nuanced ways in which one could approach one’s own self-development or the growth of oneself within a relationship.
I am actually quite surprised that so few people have read/reviewed the book up to this point. I think it is much more understandable and ‘do-able’ that some of the other relationship books out on the market, and I will try to post reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, at the very least.
The "Rose and the Sword" is one of my favorite books because it shows you the secrets of the positive/negative feminine and masculine aspects of your personality in unique story telling format. Stories are great transformational tools that teach you by example. Each story ends with comments and exercises. Terrific gift for those who wish to balance their relationships, improve team and community work and other areas in their lives. What I love the most about this book is that it contains some awesome and surprising tenets beyond ordinary ways of seeing things. Simply a treasure!
I have known N. Hucknall and J. Bach for over twenty years and have read and can highly recommend all the books they have published. I have read The Rose & the Sword and would like to emphasize that, having come to a deeper understanding of the feminine and the masculine energies and how to integrate these, it has immensely inspired me as a workshop presenter in higher education. Also, in everyday life, this understanding has helped me to approach life with more compassion, acceptance, warmth and the ability to express myself. I now embark on life with more courage and enthusiasm and a greater sense of wholeness.
A wonderful, insightful book on balancing your life. I simply love this book. As a busy woman, I've always looked for balance in my life, waking up with the positive energy I need to move through my day. The Rose and the Sword clearly outlines how to balance both our positive feminine and masculine energies in our lives to feel good about outselves and our relationships with others. Reading the interesting short stories in this book have helped me with discernment, intuition, compassion and working calmly to better balance a healthy sense of positive inner power.
The Rose and the Sword is a book that, the more you enter into it, the more meaningful it becomes. I like the exercises -- it helps to get an experiential sense of what balancing the masculine and feminine energies within oneself is like, providing a sort of kinesthetic touchstone. I have taken a few live workshops with the authors over the years, and found them to be very helpful, encouraging and insight building, which is what led me to read the book. Recommended!
THE ROSE AND THE SWORD is a book of note because it sheds light on how the positive and negative archetypes of the masculine and feminine energies play out in most individuals' lives. The stories are imaginative and give concrete examples of how to avoid pitfalls and create balance in daily life. The exercises after each chapter are helpful. This book is an excellent resource for all those who want a deeper and practical application of psychological ideas to improve their own life.
This excellent book is a how-to on how to balance your own masculine and feminine energies. Eye opening! Includes stories and hands-on exercises that help you enhance your positive masculine and feminine qualities, and transmute your negative masculine and feminine energies.
