Everything breathes, but not everything lives. It's not a matter of age, of nationality, of wealth, or of religion. People everywhere are searching for the formula to life- the perfect blend of belief, action, and maybe even God, to guarantee success and prevent failure. About the author

Ryan has always been in love with story and its power over society. He spent 12 years creating stories and design for the best-selling Myst video game franchise. He spent 10 years telling stories every Sunday as the pastor of Branches, a church he started - before leaving religion altogether.

He has started two companies to share stories through art, authored four books, a blog, hosted two podcasts, and is currently creating a story for an upcoming video game as well as a screenplay for an upcoming television show.

Ryan lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife of over 30 years and three kids and thinks it's all a pretty fantastic and fortunate story to be living.

I've read a number of books by people in the early-game industry that left it all for Christian ministry, so I decided to give this one a shot. For 12 years, author Ryan Miller worked with his brothers Rand and Robyn that founded Cyan, the company that made the series of Myst computer games. In 2010, he started/pastored a church in Spokane (through Jan 2018). He's written a number of post-evangelical books.

Really good reflections on life and what matters. Structured as reflections through the book of Ecclesiastes it provides some well intentioned and needed reminders of living life in the now. In love. With no "buts." I found the beginning and end to be really good, with some of the middle chapters perhaps bouncing around a bit much to keep a tight theme and trajectory throughout. But overall a lot of good take aways and a read I needed at this time.
