Sahitee Virupakshudu Vidwan Viswam is an anthology of articles about and by Vidwan Viswam (21-10-1915 – 20-10-1987) - a great poet, an excellent translator, versatile editor and freedom fighter. The story line of his great kavyas - Penneti pata and Okanadu are drawn from the native land but his poetic skills are simply superb with native expression. He translated great literary giants of Sanskrit like Kalidasa, Bana and Magha into Telugu with great craftsmanship. As the editor of ‘Andhra Prabha’ Weekly (of Indian Express Group) from 1967 to 1980, he expanded the canvas of Telugu weeklies with progressive outlook. His weekly columns Manikya Veena and Telupu – nalupu were very popular. He was childhood friend of Tarimela Nagireddy and Neelam Rajasekhar Reddy. He was a great scholar of Telugu, Sanskrit, Prakrit and English. This anthology contains writings of Rallapalli Ananta Krishna Sarma, Viswanatha Satyanarayana, Veluri Sivarama Sastry, Tirumala Ramachandra, Mahidhara Rama Mohan Rao, Mikkilineni Radhakrishna Murthy, Arudra, Dasarthi Krishnamacharya, Diwakarla Venkatavadhani, Kallur Ahobalarao, Bhuman, Y.Kasipati, Addepalli Ram Mohan Rao, Malati Chandur, Nagasuri Venugopal etc. As there is no other book on Vidwan Viswam, the present compilation can be a valuable book for literary world.
