As someone whose life was changed by Herb Blake, I may be biased. I lived with him in Folsom State Prison in 2007 and 2008, and attended the Contemplative Fellowship with him in Greystone Chapel (spoken about in the book). At the end of the book, there is a letter written by Blake which was shared with the group after he paroled - I am the person who read that letter to the group.

With that said, all of the kindness and graciousness of Herb Blake is here in this book. Simple. Straightforward. Authentic. Herb was a man who walked his talk and this book has his talk.

This quote struck me in particular: "[o]ur actions are driven by relevance. We all want to feel we matter in some way… Each does what he or she thinks is necessary to be acknowledged. In search of relevance men and women become saints or sinners”.
