In a Burning Secret, Beverly Montgomery takes us through Sasha’s life from conception forward through the awkward pubescent years into her adulthood. Honing the “trade” she learned from her mother, Sasha becomes a very successful businesswoman. When a fantasy is fulfilled by a client, she loses everything almost over night…husband, mother, career. She is able to pull herself back up to discover a new dream and a way to help young teens avoid her mistakes.
While working through her own issues, she about finds love again…until her ex-husband set plans into motion to once again ruin her. She gives up on romance and moves away for a fresh start and tries to be okay on her own. Now that she isn’t looking, the love of her life rings her doorbell. But is it happily ever after? Good book on a rainy day.

I like the way the author, Beverly Montgomery, supports getting assistance from a psychologist or group when it’s needed in her book, A Burning Secret. Her main character, Sasha, walks in on her mom with a man and discovered her mother’s “adult entertainment” at a young age. It caused her to explore those newly awakened feelings and urges probably much sooner than she was ready for.
Sasha sought an education in psychology, with what I think was a subconscious urge to help herself understand her past. Sasha upbringing helped her to decide to become a Call Girl, which did make her a lot of money but definitely ruined her marriage and her relationship with her mother. She does come to understand herself very well towards the end of the book and a man that loves her for who she is. Everyone should be so lucky, even if you need to live a lifetime in an evening.

What a ride! This book had so many plot twists and turns, I never knew what to expect next. Sasha starts out with a life that many teenage girls would envy, not too many questions asked and mom doesn’t check your story…then we find out why. I don’t want to give too much away here because the twirling nature of this plot is captivating, so no spoilers but a few really good hints.
Sasha has an interesting introduction in to the physical world of relationships causing her to explore it fully. Her mastery ensures financial success but at what price? The emotional side to this book is the true roller coaster, allowing all of us to jump into Sasha’s head and heart, feeling as she does through the ups, downs, shocks and joys. A great read.
