Taken at face value the Ten Commandments are binding on all people, and will guard the way to Heaven so that evil will never spoil its glory and purity. But the Commandments are far greater than their surface meaning, as this book shows. They challenge Christians on a very wide range of sinful deeds and attitudes. They provide positive virtues as goals. And they give immense help for staying close to the Lord in the life of faith. Here readers will find a panoramic view of the standards and goals for God's people. The Commandments are vital for godly living and for greater blessing, but we need to enter into the panoramic view they provide of the standards and goals for redeemed people.
Peter Masters has served as Minister of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in central London since 1970 and founded the evangelical newspaper Evangelical Times in 1967. He directs the School of Theology, an annual conference for pastors and Christian workers, and initiated the London Reformed Baptist Seminary in 1976, now offering online studies. Masters edits the international magazine Sword & Trowel, continuing the legacy of Charles Spurgeon, and has authored over 30 books translated into at least 28 languages. His sermons have been broadcast on UK and international channels, emphasizing regular Gospel preaching, ministerial separation from non-evangelical churches, cessationism regarding sign gifts, and opposition to Darwinism, supporting a young Earth creationist perspective.
I put this one down for a little bit and restarted. Not sure why I stopped. Perhaps conviction caused me to pause for a bit. A deep dive into the 10 commandments show how we all break them all regularly! A must read for every serious christian
Wish I would have read this a long time ago. It is very convicting. I did read it slowly by choice. I wanted to take small bites at a time. This would make a great family devotional with older children.
