The colorful fantasy of the Marithe Chronicles returns as the magic continues---- When Mezzmer Collins stands jilted at the altar, he retreats into a reality of his own design. His escape splits his life in two. A panoply of new and familiar characters populate a game Mezzmer finds more than real. As an inhabitant of the realm of Marithe, he is destined for greatness…or disaster. “Long into the night the ghostly drums beat out the rhythm of the ancient rituals as Mezzmer danced with the dead. The hypnotic scent of burning herbs enhanced Mezzmer's trance as he gave himself over to the erotic designs. The two men swirled in a lavish display of spirals around the etched pattern, always flowing, touching, moving. Joined by the interplay of life and death, they moved with the lingering souls of those yet unshackled. This was the essence of Mezzmer's purpose.” Mezzmer’s success as a necromancer could spell the end for the residents of Marithe, his second reality. Everything must change when he comes face to face with evil…

Patrick has done it once again! He has created a story within a story, just as interesting as the first 2 books. I loved the fact that you can follow the books stories, as well as read them in any order, and they would all make sense. This series has captivated my attention from the start, and I am absolutely in love with it.

There was so many pieces of the story revealed in this book, and a lot of them brought back memories of the first two books. Some made me happy, and some nearly made me cry. I loved revisiting the characters that we heard so much and so little about in the beginning of the series.

The build-up to the main event in the story was incredibly well written. Patrick did an amazing job at keeping you enthralled in the story throughout the whole thing, and building up hype to the plot through all of the different stories. And let me tell you, the hype definitely lived up to its expectations.

Granted it took me a while to figure it out, the title has to do with the main story, which was really cool. The book was incredibly well written, and Patrick did such a wonderful job at intermingling a new story with a part of an old one. It was riveting. I am definitely giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. I look forward to the next book!

Dancer by Patrick O'Scheen is magical. This is the third book in the Chronicles of Marithe series and it is my favorite so far. The three stories are so tightly woven together that it flows in a natural fashion. I love catching up with the old characters and adding new ones with their own sets of dramas and emotions. The story line is so solid, it could, and probably does, go on forever. I enjoyed going from present to fantasy in the flip of a page. Very well written. I cannot wait to see what comes next!
