The "Fiftieth Anniversary" commemorative fifth edition celebrates, as the prior editions have, the 1913 Federal Reserve Act, and to provide a better understanding to citizens of it and its functions.
Published for the 50th anniversary of the Federal Reserve system, this is a fairly wonky examination of how the sausage is made. The explanations of reserve deposits and life of currency, notes, acceptances, etc. reads like a 100- or 200-level college textbook on federal money management. While the detail is interesting and content presented in an accessible fashion, I wonder how much is still relevant. I mean all the gold certificate basis went out a decade later with Nixon, right?
