This was most certaintly not the type of book that I would have picked out for myself. I, however, did learn a lot about the Muslim religion fromreading it. The descriptions are very vivid and if you are not used to the writers style than it can really be a hard book to chew. This book is based around a Sultan named Bahu, and he is both a poet and saint. I loved the poetry that was entwined throughout the book. It actually gave a break from the tediousness of it all. I also enjoyed the descriptions of all the places that he travelled. I did not know much at all about the places that he was talking about and had only heard of the Taj Mahal a few times before picking up this book to read.
The book was definitely an engaging experience that went into the depths of the Muslim religion and Islam. If this is something that you are interested in than I suggest you pick up the book. It is a long read so be prepared for that, and like I said it is very in depth so you may have to reread a few of the passages to get the full effect. I was surprised how much light was shed on the religion in just over 400 pages. I give this book FOUR STARS just because I did have to reread some things to really understand them, but overall it was a great learning experience.
Disclosure: I was given this book for free in echange for my open an honest view. All opinions are my own.
