Washington Irving has called it the corner-stone of the history of the American continent. The account vividly recreates the moral and intellectual atmosphere of Columbus' world.
This book was actually written by his son. Very old, highly accurate, and just jaw dropping tales of the hysteria, mutinies and bad behavior he had to manage. I love that he felt God was pushing him, and it was His work. I imagine him frustrated to have pure desires and watch the people around him consumed with selfishness, sometimes to their death.
