“The [military-industrial] complex is not a popular force with disinterested goals. It is, instead, a conglomerate of elites — a military elite, an industrial elite, a banking elite, a labor elite, an academic elite — which seeks its own aggrandizement through global expansion.”

The arteries of imperialism is the military-industrial complex: a power elite composed of weapons manufacturers, legislators, lobbyists, think tanks, the CIA, labor hierarchy, and academic institutions.

It was born out of anti-communist, Cold War sentiments to expand U.S. influence in the name of “free economies”.

The military-industrial complex faces outward through established military bases and military alliances. It provides military aid and equipment to counter-revolutionary forces. It is ready to interfere with the political and economic affairs of third world nations ripe with revolution.

It also faces inward through the FBI, the militarized police and the national guard. It is ready to crush dissent, urban riots or any inkling of revolution.

A solid introduction to the billions of dollars spent, the profits made, and the propaganda used to maintain imperialism through military might.
