What a great activity for children and adults alike! It taps into STEM, mindfulness, motor skills, and your “inner child.” I know I’m feeling like a kid again - about to go grab some scrapbook paper and make me a frog 🐸!
🎥 This visual book offers a cute cast of characters that teach you how to fold origami, QR Codes that take you to story lines and video tutorials, and a variety of difficulty levels.
🔄 The directions were easy to follow, and there was a great assortment of origami options to choose from, including 3D. Here are some of my favorites: -frog -crown -stars and planet mobile -ferret finger puppet
🛒 You will want to buy the print version of this book for sure. The back of the book has 100 fun colored patterns that you can tear and fold, and some really cute stickers that include facial features to use on your origami designs, and some of the characters from the book.
🎁 What a great gift for young kids, or even for grandparents to keep lying around for visits. I could see families and friends bonding over this activity together. This is something I’ll be doing with my son, and maybe we’ll make a bunch and leave them around his school with some uplifting messages on them.
📌 I plan to try some of these soon. I’ll post to my blog www.hippie-blossom.com if you want to subscribe for updates.

The Paper Girls Show Origami Craft Book I'd a fun, colourful, and creative book for anyone (young and old) who loves trying new things, being creative, or wanting to learn Origami. I'm always on the lookout to learn new things, and this book didn't let me down. I've not read any other books like this to compare but the instructions seemed quite easy to follow and do from project to project and isn't overcomplicated or overloaded with info. Each step is shows with an illustrated picture to accompany it which is great. The book flows as a story and also gives fun facts, asks the reader questions and opinions on topics, has tips, and even has QR codes to scan for extra content at certain points in the book. I've never read a craft book so unique as this one is and I'd highly recommend it for any child, creative adult or classroom (perfect for wet play activities or art).
I found this cute collection of origami crafts on NetGalley and decided to explore the book a little. The crafts can be enjoyed by both kids and adults for hours of fun. Some were easy to understand and others took me a little bit of extra focus to get right. Nonetheless, this was fun! A fun and colourful guide to keep busy and entertained. Best to be used in paperback so you can use the pages available for the crafts.
The Paper Girls Show presents a fun way to learn how to origami. In a book for all ages, readers will learn how to follow over twenty different shapes. Includes QR codes that link to parts of episodes, fun tips and facts, and a heap of colourful paper in prints and patterns. This book would be great as a gift for endless fun.
All while being cute and entertaining, this book is a great tool to get a child interested in origami! I know many origami tutorials are way too complex for those little and impatient hands, but this one somehow seems to be at the perfect balance of “learn something new” and “really simple”. Also, on a side note, I believe this book is great not just for kids, it will work really well for adults also.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I don't know much about oragami but this book certainly made me want to learn more about it. If you have a daughter who is interested in oragami as a hobby, I highly recommend this book. It was very straightforward and thorough and I can see this keeping a young girl entertained for hours! –

The Paper Girls Show Origami Book by Nicole C Kear is a delightful book that introduces beginner origami and paper crafts to young readers while teaching valuable lessons. Based on the award-winning and parent-approved The Paper Girls Show, this book promotes the "maker" mindset to imagine, design, and create solutions to overcome daily challenges.

The book follows the story of Caily and Reese as they share each project, including a QR code link to the Paper Girls show episode where young makers can enter the amazing paper world of Confetti and see how each origami project helped solve an important problem.
The projects in The Paper Girls Show Origami Book are diverse and include a fashion dress, mouse, musical note, Fabio the Fish, butterfly, and so much more! Kids will love the exciting and unique paper crafts presented in the book, and will be completely enthralled by the amazing world of the Paper Girls Show.
The book is well-organized and easy to follow, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced young crafters. The step-by-step instructions are detailed, with clear illustrations and explanations that make it easy to recreate the projects.
Overall, The Paper Girls Show Origami Book is a wonderful book that introduces young readers to the world of origami and paper crafts, while promoting the "maker" mindset. It's a great way for kids to learn valuable lessons while having fun and creating beautiful works of art. This book is a must-have for any young crafter or parent looking for a fun and educational activity to share with their children.
Some ‘easy origami’ books hit the mark while sadly, most others don’t. I am happy to report that this one definitely does! The illustrations and explanations were clear and concise with extra images at the end so you knew if you were on the right track. My boys loved making the models and very rarely got stuck.
What sets this book apart ++The story line and links to the show. The QR codes take you right to the episode so you can have a fun 5-6min video to break up a maker session.
Pros +Each item had a reason for being there and as they say in the book, there was “Purpose and Play” +Clear instructions +Beginner level origami with a few more complex models for when you grow in confidence +You get over 100 stickers including face details and other items to enhance your origami +The paper included is diverse and exciting unlike many books that have three copies of ten basic patterns. Each of the 100 sheets is unique and most are coloured on both sides
Cons -They were really onto something with the face stickers but didn’t include many of them. My kids vastly preferred using the eye stickers to decorate their creations over drawing their own and pretty much ignored the generic storyline stickers. However each kid is different so it’s not really a con, perhaps more of a meh but I needed to find something to put here.
Summary I would definitely recommend The Paper Dolls Show Origami Craft Book to anyone looking for a creative gift for a child aged 5-14 and if you haven’t seen the show, you really should go google it.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own
Starting off with the fact that I am not the target audience for this book (a childless adult who has never seen The Paper Girls - though who is a child at heart and who loves origami!), I thought it was a lot of fun!
There was a good mix of projects, and quite a few that I've never seen before, which is nice! I liked how many of them tied into the show, and even included QR codes with a link to the episode clips that are relevant. There was also a good smattering of classic origami as well, including the paper crane and jumping frog (always a fave). The intros to each project were engaging for kids and included some fun facts, which was cool.
There are a few projects where you really need to look at the images and possibly have a basic understanding of origami to follow, as some of the folds are kind of hard to describe in words (looking at you squash folds). So some younger kiddos might need an adult's help on those.
While I reviewed an e-copy of this book, it looked like there were a lot of paper sheets in the back of the book with a good variety of colors and patterns. Some looked to be double sided, too, which is nice. It also looked like there were a couple sticker sheets with eyes and mouths and such that you can use to decorate your finished origami, which was a good touch!
I have worked through a couple different origami workbooks and videos over the years. This one did not disappoint. The instructions are clear and large enough than younger children can follow along easily.
There are several different classic projects (boxes, paper airplane, and the crane) as well as some more challenging ones like a person and jumping frog. The majority of the book is filled with folding papers of all colors, patterns, and objects printed on them. You might find yourself taking more time to pick the perfect sheet than actually doing the project. There are also a few pages of stickers included.
Origami is a great way to develop finer motor skills and relax with a quiet project.
While the book can be used on its own, there are references to the show that it accompanies. The beginning talks about the different characters, and several of the projects include QR codes and references to specific episodes in the show.
I was provided a free advanced reader copy courtesy of Fox Chapel Publishing via NetGalley. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Thank you Netgalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for the digital ARC. The opinion is my own.
For a children's origami book this is so colourful! I can't say much about the show The Paper Girls but the style in the book is so nice. There are QR codes for each project that goes to a significant episode of the show. The projects are explained well enough - there are instructions in the beginning on how to do the folds are read the instruction illustrations. Some projects I knew as they are relatively popular such as the crane (the quintissencial though interestingly it is not named so), the jumping frog and the butterfly. Though it is a digital version, the papers given and the stickers were also shown in this version. The stickers are simple and to the point such as eyes and mouths. The papers some of them are so pretty!
All in all, if you have a kid that is curious and hands-on or simply want to have an activity to do with said kid (Or by yourself), this book seems to be a good choice.
This was a big success with my 6 year old daughter. I wanted to find a type of project that she could learn to complete on her own without help and that would be motivating enough for her to keep on trying new ones. This was a win on both fronts. The characters of the "Paper Girls" made these projects attractive to her and she has initiated trying a project from the book every day for several days. She does need a little help from me with the folds, but we do the same project over and over and then she becomes more independent with it (and hopefully gains skills to make future projects easier for her). I do have to say that the book on its own wouldn't have worked for us as it's hard to follow written directions on origami . But, there are corresponding videos to the projects on the Paper Girls website that we use which were the perfect compliment. The book itself is great for the enthusiasm it generates and all the fun paper in the back.
The book is great fun, I took around a week to try out all of the different origami creations. Some of them are very easy such as the classic paper plane, but some can be more complex such as the jumping frog and ringed planets. I have some previous experience in origami, so it was easy to follow. Especially because they give a very thorough and detailed explanation of different terminology and symbols used in the book in the introduction. I would really recommend getting the physical copy, as it comes with a plethora of different pages of paper for you to make the designs.
It also includes interactive QR codes that send you to different episodes in the series, which I really enjoyed.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publiser for giving me a digital copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who has several origami books already I wasn't expecting anything new but I was pleasantly surprised. This book has cute cartoon characters explaining each project, clear instructions (the color coded folds showing the two sides of the page made the process easy to follow), new and interesting origami creations that I have not seen before that I think kids will really enjoy. Personally I loved the ghost, the music note, and the little robot. Paper selections at the end are also really nice and I appreciate the beautiful more modern patterns. I really appreciate how this book catered to kid's interests in a way that will encourage them to create and imagine. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this ARC for me to review.
I grabbed this book to use with my children (7 and 5 years old). There were quite a few fun patterns here for us to create. They vary in difficulty . I love how the book stresses the importance of "resilience, grit, and confidence." It's true. We need to let our kids struggle a bit to build in them what is necessary to handle life - and what better than a fun paper folding craft? There is paper everywhere and you can take it with you everywhere. I like that you can also look them up on YouTube. This book is colorful and fun and geared for kiddos ages 6 and up.
I received an e-arc of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Book: The Paper Girls Show Origami Craft Book 21 Paper Folding Creations
Thanks to Fox Chapel Publishing | Happy Fox Books for allowing me to read and review this craft book in exchange for an honest review on NetGalley and Goodreads, as well as Amazon.
There are different paper crafts to choose from. Note: Origami would be a new to me craft. The book gives specific instructions and I can foresee a learning curve. Would strongly recommend several knowledgeable helpers if this is used in a group setting. I found the print to be small on my Kindle.
Overall, if prepared ahead of time, this could fill a snowy afternoon or rainy day.
This book was a lot of fun. It’s very colorful and eye catching for younger readers. Not only does it contain the patterns and instructions for origami crafts but it includes little characters to keep things lovely and fun. The projects start very easy and get more challenging as you go. This is a great book for kids to start off on an origami journey. I received a copy for review purposes and it was a pleasure to read.
This book has caused so many happy faces in my house that it's hard to say which part of the book was loved most. We've read and reviewed each project, sometimes thay come out great, sometimes we all get a good giggle out of the results. Most of all, it's a book of projects that the family does together, which, as they say, is priceless.
Origami book is colourful and creative book for anyone who trying new things, who are creative, or wants learning Origami. I'm always want to learn to make Origami and this book is perfect for me. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this wonderful book and enjoy the process of making the Origami!
This is a great beginner book for children with very detailed instructions. I especially like the symbol key. The characters also give the book a special feel for children. I really liked the ghost and star. This is a great book for rainy or snowy days to do with your children.
Oh this book is amazing. It kept my daughter occupied for hours! It’s perfect for anyone that likes crafty actives, it’s made the perfect gift. Just like the cute things you can make with it.
What a great little introduction to the craft of origami. Clear and simple instruction with easy to follow illustrations makes this a the perfect guide for beginners to create many different shapes, and QR codes link you to tips and tricks to help master basic folds and techniques.
The book comes with everything you need to get started (paper, stickers). Provides hours of fun for all ages.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to preview an advance digital copy of this title in exchange for my honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.
I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.
I have never heard of the Paper Girls Show, but I do love origami, so here we are! I just had to see if there were some fun new origami to try out!
Before we start the book we get an introduction in the show (or well, ish) and then the main characters, Reese and Caily + side-characters! I just love how everyone looked in both styles. One more animated, the other more paper which is just perfect for a book about origami. After that an introduction on basic folds and special techniques, which I always appreciate is added. I don’t origami daily so it is good to get a refresher course on it.
After that it is project time! I loved that each project came with an introduction/inspiration + a small story from the show and a QR code to the episode the characters made something similar. That definitely gave it something extra over just doing project after project. I haven’t checked out the show, but if I may do so one day. My favourite projects are: the butterfly, the planets, the crown, the robot. I would have liked to see some harder things. A lot of these projects I have seen in other origami books and I would have just liked to see some more originality especially given that there is a whole show about paper and crafts. I am still happy with the projects, but yeah, give me more!
The instructions to the origami were easily followable with good pictures on how to make the folds.
I do like that there are 200-ish pages with just origami paper… however, I am reading this as an ebook and for me it is just useless. It is perfect if you get this book as a physical. But I am not going to print out these papers, a bit too expensive haha.
All in all, I am very happy with this book and I loved that it is centred around a show. I would recommend this for fans of the show or fans of origami!
