Sometimes our past follows us when we least expect it. What would happen if you tried for so long to repress certain memories that you forgot you even had them? What if the one person you tried desperately to forget, managed to make their way back into your life? Would you run or face your demons head on?

This is the struggle that Gwen is dealing with in The Deadliest Secret. As a psychologist at a Seattle prison, Gwen sees some pretty creepy patients, but she does not let them get in the way of her passion-helping people. No matter how hard her parents try to get her to work in a safer environment, Gwen remains loyal to her job, even when the one person she tried to forget makes his way back into her life. Torrian, a prison guard, has major feelings for Gwen and will do anything to protect her; even if it means secretly teaching the douchebag inmates a lesson every now and then.

Kody McQueen is the worst kind of criminal. He’s involved with the mob, a demented killer and major asshole. The one thing that keeps Kody going is the love he has for the one who got away. Being transferred to McNeil Island is like a dream come true for Kody, he knows that he will finally have a chance to see the love of his life. Kody will do everything in his power to have the chance to see her once more. He knows that if he can just talk to her, she will be his again. Will he win her back or will unforeseen circumstances get in his way?

The author does a great job taking on this roller coaster ride of emotions. For me, the beginning was a little slow but once it picked up I was hooked. I wasn’t expecting a love story to be intertwined with the suspenseful plot. I was thoroughly surprised when I got to the steamy sex scenes. I had to turn up my air conditioner just to get through them.

Gwen and Torrian are perfect together. You can feel their love jumping off the pages. As a reader, I truly went on their journey with them from beginning to end. I felt Gwen’s love and her heartbreak. The one thing I would’ve liked to see from this book was a more detailed ending. I felt like it just ended. I need just a little bit more. Overall though, I think this was a great book and I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.

Gwen: her story is one filled with death, horror, torture. It is also filled with some of happiest moments a person could wish for. Here are the key figures in her life:
Her parents. They could be hard, unloving and unforgiving. But they were her parents, they also were always there for her despite the trouble she has caused growing up. The times she did not appreciate them. She vowed to do better and to try to love and understand them more.Hopefully before their time with her is done.
Kody. Her first love. He had cheated on her in school, and he had become a killer. A brutal, mad, rapist and killer. He is a sadist in every sense of the word. One she had to deal with as a psychologist at the very prison where he is.
Torrian. Guard at the prison. First a friend. One she cherished every moment she could spend with. They become lovers, and he is her protector. He fills her nights with hot, desperate sex, and protects her durin the day from the hardened criminals she tries to help. Will one or both survive this hell hole?
Darrien. A man who she has come to know in her darkest hours. One she can share all her brutal past with. He will not judge, as he knows what has been done to her and the madness that stalks her. He wants to have her as is, in every sense of the word. He wants to keep her, protect her, and plunge himself deep between her legs!! does he have the right? Is there a place for him? Or are there too many ghosts haunting her?

Enjoyed this, a little more intense, than my normal read, but if you love, murder, mystery, torture, dash of bedroom action, shock and a sprinkle of what the heck???? You'll love this book
