I was born in Leicester, England, and lived in our cobbler’s shop with my parents and sister. It was an old house and most definitely haunted, but I didn’t find out until I left that my great uncle had hung himself in the living room! But I think our ghost might have been older than that. It was built on the site of the old Roman cemetery, and the land had been constantly inhabited, being in the centre of town. Then, when the council bought the house from us to build a road, my grandfather retired and my father went and worked for the Post Office. My mother was a sample machinist; that is, she worked with designers on the prototypes (models or samples) of garments. So I was very well dressed! We bought a relatively modern house in the country, and my mother was blissfully happy. It’s all very well living in a large old house, but it’s a dreadful task to keep it clean and warm!

My mother's side of the family are Romany gypsies, although sadly we haven't any of the old trailers that are so astonishingly beautiful. I was taught to read the Tarot cards, and I usually use two packs; the Rider pack for simple readings and the Crowley Thoth pack for the complex stuff.
I've always had an interest in the paranormal and it's been a delight to be able to put some of this into my novels.

Fascinating Rhythm is the second book I have read in this series and it was even better than the last. As my addiction to rocker romances grow I find this book has shot immediately to the top of the list. Let me share with you why.

Hunter in one word....YUMS! You can say what you want about the guys who play a guitar, the drummer is the quiet sexy one. His running from his past just leads him to his future...with none other than one of the people he was running from. As for Sabina, wow, just wow. I like my heroines to be strong, tough, resilient, but she just blows all other out of the water. By learning to cope with her handicap and making something of herself, that takes a lot of courage. I LOVE the idea that they author has for her surgery and I do so wish it was true. But I digress. Hunter and Sabina together are just incredible. I love how they are both fragile and strong. you can tell from the beginning these two were meant for each other. As for the sex between them, *Fans self*, yuppers...that was sizzling hot.

I really enjoyed the premise of this story. A rock star and a hard of hearing person. Two people you don't think would go together but really Hunter and Sabina go together like peas and carrots. The flow of the story was smooth and the characters were all very real. The secondary characters were great and quirky (still want to name my next pet Zazz!) and add to the story seamlessly. Ms Connelly has created the perfect antagonist for this story, Hunter's mom. There were times I just wanted to smack her for being so cold and indifferent but for the most part I felt sorry for her. As for they was his acts, I do know several people who have had surgery to restore their hearing. The author has done a spot job of how some people react which in itself is a sad thing.

So far of what I have read of the Nightstar series each book has worked well as a standalone. However, I am enjoying it so much I would highly recommend reading all of the books. I do have to backtrack to the first two titles, but if they are as good as the two that I have read, I will seek out other titles by Ms. Lynne Connolly. As for Fascinating Rhythm, this book need to go to the top of everyone's TBR list.

I received this book from JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated.

“Fascinating Rhythm” by Lynne Connolly is the striking fourth installment in the ‘Nightstar’ series that details events in the lives of members of the Murder City Ravens band. Percussionist Hunter fled the silence that was such a major part of his life and he has helped shape his band into the major success that it has become but he inadvertently crushed the dreams of his lover, Sabina. His return to his homeland rekindles the embers of their passionate affair but Sabina is facing her own milestones in life and may not be ready for all of the radical changes that will be required of her, particularly given the insistence of Hunter’s mother who wants deaf separatism. Hunter and Sabina must face life-changing decisions and decide what their priorities are, the problem is that they may not choose the same path.

This enthralling contemporary erotic romance series is delightfully continued with this striking installment that examines the concept of handicap as it is applied to one who lacks the use of one of the five major senses. The story is a beautiful and thought-provoking examination of a sort of reverse discrimination, as Hunter is virtually ostracized for being a hearing person in a society of those who cannot hear and Sabina may lose status if she chooses a radical operation that can give her the chance to regain her hearing. I was captivated by the glimpse of life on another continent and fascinated by the detail provided, which was particularly pertinent as I have a friend who had cochlear implant surgery. The interesting snippets that reflect the differences in syntax among different forms of sign language and the description of devices used to compensate for lack of hearing gave wonderful depth to the story even as the sizzling attraction between the two main characters continues to intensify. I greatly enjoy this series and salute the author for her ability to continue to introduce compelling characters, each with his or her own particular obstacles that must be overcome. I look forward to learning more about some of the other memorable secondary characters and, even though this story can be read as a stand-alone, suggest that all of the ‘Nightstar’ tales be read to get a more complete picture of the unique people associated with the band. A delicious addition to a very enjoyable series.
