The Complete Book of Corvette - Revised & Updated: Every Model Since 1953

Rate this book
The ultimate book for Corvette lovers and fans of America’s premier high-performance vehicle. Since the release of the first Corvette in 1953, Chevrolet’s flagship sports car has become a timeless part of American culture and a household name across the globe. No matter the model or year, one can instantly pick out a ’Vette—from the four chrome-ringed headlamps of the late-1950s models to the sharp edges of the 1960s Sting Ray, the signature curved wheel-well moldings on 1970s bodies, and up to the aggressive aerodynamics of the Corvette C6. But while all are undeniably beautiful machines, none approach the astonishing technology packed into Chevrolet’s latest: the seventh-generation 2014 Corvette Stingray, which marks the historic resurgence of the Stingray badge for the first time since the mid-1970s. In The Complete Book of Corvette, American automotive expert Mike Mueller details all of the generations, offering the definitive, all-encompassing volume showcasing over 60 years of Corvette history. Created in cooperation with General Motors and illustrated with 500 color and black-and-white photos from GM’s exclusive Design and Media Archives, the book highlights the development, tech specs, and visual prowess of the entire Corvette line. From that first 1953 ’Vette to the brand-new 2014 Corvette Stingray—the triumphant culmination of Chevrolet’s longstanding sports car expertise—The Complete Book of Corvette pays tribute to one of America’s proudest sports car traditions and the innovative company behind it.

A book that fits its title everything about Corvette’s. takes you through the early stages of the thought process and design in the fifties and from there through each decade with the different changes that were made and how they came about. The only thing is I saw nothing about the newer corvette that is out and thought maybe a revised edition would have that one.
The history and pictures that went along with the story were good and overall a good book, its about corvettes so if you are not into them you are not going to be into this book. Received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

I now Have the 3rd Edition(June 2014 of this Book,Hardcover Same Title with upper right saying "Revised & Updated with 2014 Corvette Stingray" even though it is still a big book and bigger over the last edition which was a flexibound/softbound(approx 368pages,ISBN 0760341400 ) it has gone down in pages to 300,The first Edition Book Was 352 Pages A Big Hardcover with ISBN 0760326738, All the same Book but updated over time and for future reference will be I hope as well as it is an invaluable reference, I am disappointed the page count went down in this 3rd edition(June 2014 ISBN 0760345740,Red 1963 Corvette which is misidentified inside the book on title page saying first generation 1953 corvette and with the red C7 Corvette Stingray with black wheels as pictured on amazon, the first edition has the 63' Silver Split window, the 2nd has blue/Carbon Z06 Corvette on the cover.I have all 3 and Love all 3.)Besides the small misprints and one page that continues the same word from the previous, and the smaller page count the C7 Chapter and brief look at the C7 Is a great resource and it reveals at one point a Midengined Corvette C7 was in the works early on but as we now know it was not to be,also speculation about Midengine C7/C8. Pictures and behind the scenes of it all. you have to remember this book left off from 2012 version which in this 2014 Version now features the Centennial Corvettes from 2012 ,the 2013 427 Corvette,The C6 Grand Sport Corvette,The ZR1,Z06,Carbon Z06,Pace cars, and some newer photos where the old edition left off. With Specs,Some Production Numbers and information,The DP (Daytona Prototype-Racer)Corvette is not in here,C5-R,C6.R is, The C7R is not.I have one of my copies signed by the author,I look forward to reading future editions and I hope even bigger and longer in pages(how about 500pages) Please Publishers,The Complete Book of Corvette is still a Must read for Corvette Enthusiasts.

I recently received the Updated and Revised Version of the 2006 Hardcover book, this 2011 Softbound(it's flexibound,it is kind of like a hardcover but smaller.) has been updated and includes up to 2011 Corvette, where the 2006 book left off is where the new Softcover(Which has the Blue Carbon Z06 on the cover and a black 2012 Centennial edition Z06 On the back as opposed to the 63' on the 2006 Hardcover),the book covers the 2008 Pace Cars(the Z06 coupe and the black roadster.),includes the "427" Wilmer Cooksey Signed Edition Z06,THE GT1 Champ Edition of 2009,the 2009 ZR1,THE Beautiful 2010 Grand Sport and the Stingray Concept car that Appeared in the Transformers movie as Sideswipe, the Beautifully Sinister 2011 Z06 Carbon(cover car)and Just as beautiful and Mean 2012 Centennial 100th Anniversary Edition Black Corvette Z06.This book and the just as Beautifully done Big 2006 Hardcover are a must read and a must-add to the Corvette Connoisseur's Collection.

My only complaints would be MORE PICTURES!! and a updated or similar book! this was published in 2006! while the C6R Is in here, there is an engine shot(Picture) . The book along With Ludvigsen's Star Spangled Sports Car, Jerry Burton's 2006/08 Corvette : America's Sportscar ,Yesterday ,Today,Tomorrow And Randy Leffingwell's 50th anniversary Corvette Book, as well Dr. Pete Gimenez Corvette Racing Legends The Story behind the L-88 Engine option,Friedman's Grand Sport are ALL MUST HAVES and the perfect companions! This book I thought would be just another compilation of many of mueller's books,Boy Was I wrong! there are some pics I have seen before but alot of stuff in here, the writing is good and witty. Great History. Can't Wait for another Corvette book To Top This!

This book was provided free via the First Reads Giveaway in exchange for an honest review. It bulges with gorgeous, gleaming photography, discoveries leaping out on every page. How the Corvette's distinctive style evolved, how competing models adopted its look. But it's not just about the hotness factor. Interiors, engine blocks, dash clusters, just about every nitpicky thing you could ever want to know is depicted here. Concept cars too! Substantial index, and a reference for years to come. Book weighs close to five pounds.

To say that I am finished with The Complete Book of Corvette - Revised & Updated: Every Model Since 1953 by Mike Mueller is actually inaccurate because this comprehensive guide to everything corvette through the decades is so amazing that I will go back to it's pages again and again and again. I have long searched for just this book as a lover and owner of one of the most beautiful vehicles created to date.

It is a marvelous& detailled book with excellent illustrations. The author is definitely a petrolhead and loves Corvette without losing the skill to critic something that he likes.
If you love Vette's I really recommend this book.

I don't see how one of the reviews on this book could be hidden as a spoiler. Is that a pun on the spoiler of one's Carvette or did I miss a plot somewhere in this book? :)
