An extremely low interest rate environment and a weak global economy have combined to cause fixed-income investors to rethink their approaches to credit analysis, portfolio construction, and risk management for bond portfolios. At the same time, lower expected returns for all asset classes are placing increased pressure on fixed-income managers to generate excess return.
