Paul Hausser was a high-ranking commander in the Waffen-SS, a commander who was very much loved by his soldiers and called as "Papa Hausser". Thus, this tome was born.
I can understand some people getting itchy when they hear the word "SS", however; the Waffen-SS played a huge role in the Second World War, not only the horrible atrocities many people remember the Waffen-SS by, but more importantly military. Plus, having served in the World War I as an infantry officer, he was transferred to the SS-Verfügungstruppe in 1934 and he played a huge role in the forming of the Waffen-SS. For various reasons, he, in my opinion, by no means was a stupid ass-licking Hitler loving general. According to Paul Hausser, the Waffen-SS was "soldiers like any other", for that particular reason he focuses on the military role of the Waffen-SS and military role of it only. And I don't give a single fuck about HIAG's claims such as "SS had no part in war crimes." because it is historically proven otherwise. But Paul Hausser was very romantic about his soldiers, that's for sure.
This tome contains the pictures of the former Waffen-SS personnel. I'm pretty sure %90 of the pictures in this tome are no more, physically. Since Papa Hausser was very much loved among the soldiers, he sent a message out "Spill the pics, lads!" and there you go, it's called "Wenn Alle Bruder Schweigen".
An important piece of work regarding the Waffen-SS.
Well, not everybody's cup of tea, but for those of us interested in particular military formations, this is a superlative book. First bought this book way back in 1973, but lost it somewhere over the years. I purchased a replacement just recently and found it to be just as impressive as I found the first one all those years ago. The pictures are informative and of a comfortable eye size. Over 1100 photos of the unit in all facets of activities. You really can't ask for more in a book!!!
