"If there should ever come a day when parents are required to read a collection of reference manuals as part of the sign up/registration process for every little league, every competitive youth athletic program, every musical and academic program or cheerleading squad, RAISE THE CHILD YOU’VE GOT, NOT THE ONE YOU WANT should be part of that collection." There is a way out of your endless loop of frustration. Parent coach Nancy Rose paves the way with a remarkably effective approach: Leading with Acceptance, which draws upon real life parent/child relationships, current studies, and groundbreaking methods for understand and accepting your child’s CoreSelf traits.
Leading with Acceptance will help you: • Discover what you can and cannot change about your child • Understand the power of acceptance in building a healthy parent/child connection, no matter how old your child is • Gain peace of mind as you raise your children to become their best, happiest selves
Many child development books and books on parenting always seem to have a list of things a person must do to raise their child "right". This is not that book. Nancy Rose does not give you a definite list for how to raise your child "right" she tells you how to build a base that will build a healthy relationship with you child, and that relationship will in a symbiotic fashion build a great and successful person. The core idea behind her book acceptance is a basic and humongous idea, that is the most forgotten ,yet the most powerful. As I was reading this book I thought finally a person who is telling it like it is. And as you read you won't feel that she is forcing her ideas on you because all of her arguments are actually common sense, common sense that we seem to have forgotten because of our ideas how parenting should be. She gives you a breakdown how to go through the process of accepting you child as they are, because many of us do not know how.We all have our own ideas about how we should parent and how effective it is and seeing those same methods from the perspective of this book makes us see the pitfalls and good things in our approach. As an example of this is the approach of the parent to pressure their child in academic success, and as an Indian women I have experience as the recipient in this parenting approach; of giving your child acceptance and love only when they do well in their school work or meet the parent's expectations, this approach can lead to negative feelings in the future as Rose explains. Her book is spectacular and if your about to become a parent, or if you are a parent in general this is the first book you should pick-up before you pick any other.
We loved this book enough to excerpt from it in the December issue and on our website. Nancy lives in the real world of parenting, and communicates the value of acceptance clearly and effectively.
This was a truly wonderful book that really helped you realize your child's potential with their inborn characteristics. You were able to identify your child's 9 inner traits as well as your own inner traits. By understanding the traits you can better understand your child and where you conflict with each other. This was also a book on loving the child you've got and not the one you wish to have. Wonderful book!
