Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that matter the most.

Emma is a small town girl with big dreams. After years of working hard, she thought she finally had it all: a beach house in Malibu, a fiancé who is a well-known surgeon, and a climbing career in the newspaper world. Except, when Emma finds Matt in bed with another woman only weeks before their wedding, she takes a giant leap by accepting a promotion on the east coast.
While in her travels across the country, Emma crosses paths with the free-spirited, fly by the seat of his pants, Jacob. She's fascinated by him and his outlook on life.
When circumstances leave her stranded in a strange city, fate brings Jacob and Emma together again. He takes her on a two day journey into his world where he shows her that money doesn’t always buy you happiness. Happiness is there for the taking, all Emma needed to do was know where to look.

So, when Matt rides in to the rescue, Emma must decide if her relationship with him is worth saving, or if her chance encounter with Jacob is her tomorrow.

I see pictures and images that come alive in my mind. That's where my stories come from. I have the innate ability to be able to hit the pause button and then continue on when I want to see what happens.
I have been a storyteller my entire life. In the times when I was in need of an escape, I was able to create a world of my own to hide for a while.
I have dealt with many traumatic life events in recent years, and I believe that my way of coping with it all has been to sit down and write. I pour every emotion that I am feeling at that moment into the words on the screen. The stories just take on a life of their own. So, now I want to share with the rest of the world, the world in which I create, and hope that it helps the reader to escape into a fantasy of their own.

No no no no no!! What a mess this was. Read the rest at your own risk as I will have spoilers.

Emma has been with Matt for 8 years, engaged for 2. She comes home early excited about her new job offer, she's in journalism, and she walks into her bedroom. There is moaning coming from under the sheets. Pulls them back and sees Matt with a woman. Then takes off. Who the hell is having a forbidden romp under the sheets?? Under. The. Sheets. She doesn't say anything, the other girl isn't described, nothing. Then, come to find out later, they never had sex. Dumb. And this is right before their wedding is to take place.
She decides to accept the job in New York, and is driving from her home in California to New York. Matt has no idea but keeps calling and begging her back. She makes a stop to eat and sees a guy with long hair and the driver of a truck come in. So, she ends up making a few stops to eat and each place two things happen. One, she sees the long haired guy who's name is Jacob. Two, each place she goes she's asked if she's with her husband. If she checks into a hotel she's asked if she's with her husband, and then she's crying. Now, what are the odds you'll see the same guy for three stops?? And what are the odds your car breaks down in Tennessee where said long hair guy lives?? And when her car breaks down, her cell is dead, she's mugged and calls Matt for money.
Ironic? No. Just lame.
She ends stranded there for two days as her car needs repairs. In these two days, she spends them with Jacob, they have sex, fun and he has fallen in love. REaLLY??? A guy that basically lives like a gypsy. It was lame.
Let's hurry this up. Matt comes, her BFF Renee comes. They run off Jacob. She realizes she loves Jacob and not Matt. Renee says she never cancelled the wedding stuff and so she and Jacob marry.
Now, I caught all this and still skimmed the book. I didn't like the story. The dialogue. The characters. Wasn't believable to like able for me.

It’s hard to write a review for this one without spoilers, but I’ll do my best to get my point across without them! I signed up to receive an ARC copy of this book and I was not disappointed in my choice. I love the characters of Jacob and Emma. I love a man with an accent so of course Jacob stole my heart right away. From the beginning, I didn’t like the character of Renee or Matthew and when you read it you will see why. Other than those two, the rest of the characters were very easy to love. This book had a bit of everything in it, humor, romance, action, heartache. One of my favorite lines from Jacob is “Sorry, love, I didn’t mean to bump you, unless of course you need a good bumping.” One of my favorite lines in the book itself was “She loved how imperfectly perfect he was.” I would say my only complaint is that I wish Jacob had been in it more! I could’ve easily read another hundred pages in this story and not been bored with it. I truly enjoyed this author’s writing style and look forward to reading more of her books in the future!

I loved, loved, LOVED this book. You have got to read it, because you will NOT be disappointed!!! I have read all of Jenna's work, and this one was one of my favorites she has done. The flow was amazing, and I fell in love with Emma and Jacob, along with Lena and Todd. I wanted to kill a few of the characters, and when you read this amazing story, you will know why. Renee rubbed me the wrong way, even though her intentions were to make Emma happy, even if she didn't know the whole truth behind Emma's few days with Jacob. I am glad things didn't work out for Matthew, but if it did, Emma and Jacob would never have gotten their shot at Chance Encounters. My emotions were all over the place during this book, being happy about the fated encounter, and mad at Matthew on several occasions. Thankfully this book, like all of her others, was a very happy ending. Jenna did an amazing job with this, and Jacob is one of those characters I want to bring out of the book and keep for myself.

Oh my goodness!! I absolutely love this book!! It's such the perfect fairy tale sort of love story that most girls dream of when they are little or still do dream of now!! Jacob may not have been a "knight in shining armor" with riches of money & all that. But he was Emma's knight who showed her how to appreciate the little things in life again, how to breathe, relax & be spontaneous!!! Not to mention he also saved her from marrying a man who just wouldn't have been right for her anymore. If she would have gotten back with Matt, she would always have thought "what if" about Jacob. Some people have too many "what if's" in real life. She never would have been truly happy. I'm so glad she got her happily ever after!!! Thank you for this amazing book Jenna!!! Keep them coming!!!

Ok it sucks that I have to give this book only 3 stars but I just have to. I wanted to love it and there were parts that I did love, but then there were parts that I was just like UGH. Emma was really weak to me; how she didn't stand up to Matt and Renee really made me angry. Renee was supposed to be her best friend and she kept pushing Emma back to Matt after what he did to Emma. I really hated Matt and Renee. I loved Jacob, he was so sweet and awesome. I also felt like the book was moving too fast in a way.

Emma Reed is moving from Long Beach to New York for a job promotion with the NY Times. And she is doing it alone since her Surgeon Fiancee was caught cheating on her just weeks before their wedding. While on the road, she meets Jacob - a free spirit who is exactly opposite of her. After a couple of chance encounters on the road, Emma is starting to let down her guard and fall in love with him. But of course her surgeon ex fiancé won't leave her side long enough for that to happen.

This was a quick, light and fluffy read.

Chance Encounters by Jenna Pizzi is an amazing read. I was crying for poor Emma in the very first chapter. I was crying for an entirely different reason at the end. What a terrific story of fate and true love perfectly told. I never put it down!
