Steve Farrar says, "If you want to know what is going to happen in the future then you have to look back to the past." His recommended reading list for understanding the future through the past? The biblical prophets. Through his own study of the prophets, Farrar is convinced that America is on the brink of judgment. He says, "The problem with America is not the unbelieving world. The problem with America is the people of God. Our gospel is cancelled by the way we live." With Get In The Ark , Farrar gives Christians the tools they need to victoriously face the coming judgment.
Steve Farrar is the founder of Men’s Leadership Ministries. He holds a Master’s degree from Western Seminary, and an earned doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. Steve is the author of the best-selling book, Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family, God Built, Battle Ready, and True Courage. Steve Farrar resides in Texas with his family.
The first half of the book was great. The funny part is this book was published in 2000 and the author was calling/expecting a serious judgment on the USA for its sinfulness. Of course we know in 2001 I am sure he felt very vindicated. I did not try and look up any responses he might have had with 9/11 and calls for judgment and the loss of God's blessing and security due to the sinfulness back then.
Imagine what the author must think now! 2000's and prior sinfulness has nothing on what is going on in America and the world now. We are truly reaping the loss of God's protection as foreigners are flooding Europe and the USA to consume to food and bounty of the nations. Inflation is rampant and the youth/child sacrifices to Moloch have increased to levels never before seen in the States at least. Confusion runs rampant and people truly have been given over to their desires and completely lost their way.
What I liked about the book was the message of hope. Even with condemnation and loss of blessing, the remnant will survive and the Gospel message will continue and people will keep getting saved, no matter how bad it gets, which is funny since I have been reading another fellows website and he discusses the liklihood of s space-based catastrophe destroying most like on Earth, but God protecting a remnant who will continue, very much like Noah and his family. Call it a cosmic reboot.
Anyways I enjoyed the book. The first half is better than the second half where it kind of becomes your standard Christian call to faith, but it is an enjoyable read and I agree with the author. The US is lost. It is a sinful nation, not a godly nation and it is ripe for doom because of the sin.
A bit dated with little new information I haven't already read someplace else or didn't know from previous study of Habakuk, Daniel, and the decline of nations. I always appreciate Steve's passion and devotion to quoting Puritan preachers, but his praise of Marshall's and Manuel's "The Light and the Glory" is troubling. There were better and more nuanced histories of the United States and its Christian influences, even in 2000, when Farrar's book was published. He could have referenced any of Mark Noll's or George Marsden's works, for example.
