THE INVISIBLE HAND: Business, Success & Spirituality is the unusual true account of how a stressed out, driven entrepreneur has an out-of-the-blue spiritual experience which sets off a series of profound life-changing events including mystical experiences in the Great Pyramid. He then meets a 91-year old guru from India who changes his life, teaches him how to meditate and accelerates his business success.
There are many books about spirituality and about business, but few where the author can share his practical experience of success in both areas and bring them together. It reveals how the entrepreneur and spiritual seeker have much in common - they require faith, sacrifice, determination and commitment to reach their goals.
THE INVISIBLE HAND shows how all of us can relieve stress and learn how to relax through meditation - the superfood for the mind - while remaining focussed on our quest for success.
The book will be of particular interest to readers who enjoy self-help, business and spiritual books.
To summarise, THE INVISIBLE HAND is not just for those of us who want to achieve success in business and spirituality. It is about having the confidence to fulfil our dreams whatever they may be - how to be happy regardless of our aspirations, beliefs, knowledge or profession.
Reviews
"Consciousness is growing on our wonderful planet as countless people seek inner change but still so many do not know how to discover real success, love, happiness and calmness. The Invisible Hand gives a clue as to how it might be possible and will act as a beacon to encourage others to find their own true individual path - how to win the day in life, business and spirituality." Paramahamsa Prajnanananda Giri, Kriya Yoga International.
"David Green has written a remarkable and rich first book, full of thoughts, observations, ideas, insights and hard-won wisdom. When I was given The Invisible Hand I would have classed myself as an agnostic with no interest in spirituality. David's message of never giving up, believing everything is possible and the benefits of meditation in daily life had an impact on me. I felt compelled to start to meditate. "I have read over 3,000 books on a professional basis and The Invisible Hand touched me in a special way that really good books do. I found myself reading about meditation, diet, lifestyle and what it means to have or not to have success. I really felt the truth and impact of David's experiences and the authenticity of what he has learnt first-hand from his spiritual masters." After leaving school to pursue a career in the City of London, I set up a finance house when I was 23.
As my business grew, so did my stress levels. I was a driven entrepreneur with no interest at all in spirituality or religion. This all changed when I was 31. I had an out-of-the-blue spiritual experience which took me on a journey to Egypt and Tibet.
I then met a great 91 year old Kriya Yoga master from India, who changed my life and taught me how to meditate. He showed me how business and spirituality are inextricably linked.
By investing just 1% of my day in meditation, change came to me. Meditation helped me to be more in tune with my true nature - leading to more concentration, more awareness and more success in my hectic career. Through amazing grace, hard work and good fortune I was lucky enough to retire when I was 42.
My first book, The Invisible Hand: Business, Success & Spirituality has just been launched: The book encompasses what I have been taught by two great masters from India - about breath awareness, meditation, yoga and diet. In addition, there are stories about the many people who have influenced and helped me on my path - what I learnt from them and how I built a business until it was sold.
50% of The Invisible Hand's profits will go to charity. For more details please visit my website.

This book is filled from front to back with fascinating real life stories and tips about business and spirituality. What makes this author extraordinary among other spiritual writers is that he was a successful (extremely successful) western businessman who underwent a spiritual awakening and can now explain eastern mysticism and techniques in a way that makes sense to other westerners. I had never heard of Kriya Yoga before opening this book, but it really made me very curious about the practice.
Actually, I have never read as clear an explanation about the importance of breath and observation of the breath than I did in this book. (Pages 254-255 and 322-324 were especially helpful.) Also, I have never read a better description of the role of a guru and what that means as both a teacher/student relationship and practical way of being. (see pages 72-84 for a start, but this topic is discussed in detail throughout the book)
My only criticism of The Invisible Hand was, what I felt to be, a lack of organization but that may have just been caused by the enormous amount of information contained within each chapter. This book may be easier to understand if read as a "devotional" with each small section made into its own chapter (or only reading one titled section per day) for ease in contemplation and understanding. Even though, I felt that topics and examples bounced around, that didn't truly limit my enjoyment of the myriad teachings contained within.
It really is a unique and enlightening read. I recommend it to spiritual seekers everywhere (most especially westerners interested in eastern practice). David Green's wisdom contains practical lessons for everyone at any point in their spiritual life- whether just starting out or having practiced for years.
David Green's The Invisible Hand: Business, Success & Spirituality offers a unique blend of personal narrative and spiritual exploration, aimed at individuals seeking to balance their entrepreneurial ambitions with inner peace and mindfulness.
The book recounts Green's transformative journey as a driven entrepreneur who experiences a profound spiritual awakening. This pivotal moment leads him to mystical experiences, including encounters in the Great Pyramid, and ultimately to a mentorship with a 91-year-old guru from India. Through this guidance, Green learns meditation techniques that not only enhance his personal well-being but also contribute significantly to his business success.
Green effectively intertwines themes of spirituality and business, arguing that both realms require similar qualities: faith, determination, and commitment. He posits that meditation acts as a "superfood for the mind," helping individuals manage stress while remaining focused on their goals. This approach is particularly appealing to readers interested in self-help, as it encourages a holistic view of success that encompasses both material achievements and spiritual fulfillment.
The Invisible Hand serves as a guide for navigating modern life's complexities, merging practical business advice with spiritual teachings. It resonates with a diverse audience, especially those seeking success alongside inner peace. Green emphasizes that true achievement encompasses happiness and fulfillment across all life aspects. This book is a compelling read for anyone interested in the intersection of business and spirituality.
There is no separation between materialism and spirituality
Business and spirituality, are they compatible? Many business books offer a self-centered approach to life, whereas most spiritual books are not really practical. David Greens 'The Invisible Hand' is a very enjoyable read, with deep insight in how to combine these two seemingly different worlds. He explores the wisdom of financial traders and spiritual guru's alike. His approach is very down to earth and delightfully self-deprecating. A beautifully honest book.
In the first chapters Green tells about his life as a financial trader in London. He shares the insights and principles that eventually brought him worldly success and - let's be honest- a lot of money (he was able to retire at 42). But he didn't learn all these principles in the London financial market and that's what makes this book so special. His most important sources of practical wisdom were the spiritual masters that he met and followed. His stories about 'The Great Master' and 'Smiling Swami' are humorous, profound, and sometimes downright stunning.
Green explores subjects like meditation, karma and grace with an analytical mind and sharp insight. Many times I laughed out loud while reading. Nowhere does the book become preachy, and you won't find any new age cliché's here. David Green keeps his feet firmly on the ground, in the meantime taking you on a journey that gives you a taste of the life of a modern mystic and its surprising possibilities.
If you're interested in a more loving and compassionate way to lead your (business) life this book is a must read. Because, believe it or not, 'The Invisible Hand' is guiding you too.
Although a little unsure at first, by the end of this book I felt uplifted and motivated. I particularly enjoyed the use of anecdotal stories to illustrate each point, it was much easier to relate to as a result.
My favourite aspect was the author's focus on encouraging readers to discover what works best for them, learning their own strengths and weaknesses, rather than suggesting a 'one size fits all' solution. I would recommend to anyone!
I was truly inspired by this book. The author wonderfully connects spirituality with practical day to day wisdom, making spirituality less mysterious and more reachable for all of us. This book is not only interesting and enjoyable, but thoroughly uplifting as well. This is an excellent book which everyone should read!
