Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina had her head buried in books.

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Angelina's author career.

"I awoke in the ICU... I had been unconscious for several days," Angelina says.

In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident: the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she'd ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fiction stories for young adults, Angelina has now authored four books in a new "Mill Creek Crossing Romance" series... contemporary romance intended for adults.

The "Starting Over Series" is another contemporary romance series she wrote about a subject she knows well... nurses and their love life. At a recent reunion of her graduating class, she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat, and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced... so Angelina thought "what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?" Then the first story in the series was born.

There is always a story running around in her head. A man with thick dark hair, gray-blue eyes, with an engaging smile and a quick wit... or a girl crying over a broken relationship. She finds herself talking to these characters during her day: when she's doing dishes, or bathing babies at the hospital. These characters crop up on days at the beach or on walks through the neighborhood. This is how the stories start to grow.

Angelina's mother was an author, so Angelina grew up with a love of words and stories. If she wasn't writing a short story about something that took her fancy, her head was buried in books... reading, reading, reading, as her brother constantly told her...

When she's not spending time with her good looking man or writing, she's working at the hospital, or walking her two dogs around the neighborhood.

Angelina really loves to connect with her readers and she invites you to connect with her on Facebook as she interacts daily with her readers there!

If I could give this 3.5 stars I would... but they won't let me :(
This story is told from both Nicole and Sean's POVs.
Nicole is a singer, who along with her quartet of musician friends, performs at a VA Rehabilitation center. She's sees Sean across the room and is instantly drawn to him and he is instantly drawn to her. Sean was injured during a tour in Afghanistan and lost his leg to his injuries. He is very self conscious about this and when he sees that Nicole notices his missing leg he goes into "shutdown" mode. Unfortunately this happens a lot, because he has trouble coming to terms with his injury he feels that no one else can possibly accept it. After their performance Nicole is asked to work with a soldier, who is a trained musician, as part of music therapy to help him recover. Her friend Antonia agrees that she and Nicole with work with him; and neither has any idea it's the same soldier that Nicole connected with during her performance.
The story moves a little fast, and there are some things that musically just don't work (but unless you are "in the know" they won't stand out as errors)... but the story itself is good.
Nicole has issues, because of the life her mother has led, and she has a hard time letting go of them. Her reactions were a little juvenile at some points, but I suppose that if you hold the same beliefs as she does about men you might react the same way. And Sean seems to move along in his therapy a little faster than is conceivably possible... but hey, it's a story, a work of fiction... the author can make this go anyway she wants to!
I liked this book. The story was good, the characters were well thought out and certain things you just have to overlook. One reason I don't watch movies involving anything remotely related to the military with my husband... he's going to pick it apart every step of the way. That just ruins it for me! But it's a movie... they can make it be anything they want it to be, whether or not it's true to what happens in the military or not. With that said, if music is your life and anything related to music must be perfectly written, then you are going to find fault and probably should not read this. If you have worked with wounded veterans or have experience with wounded veterans and the extensive amounts of therapy they go through to move past their injuries, then this probably moves a little too fast for you and you probably shouldn't read it. But, if you are looking for a light, easy, quick read that has a good story about two people who are wounded in their own way and find each other and help each other move past those issues... then you should give this book a shot.
