Why Church?

Rate this book
We live in a day and age--and culture--in which everything is changing fast. Many people are sensing the loss of helpful support systems that gave been swept away in all the changes. They are more aware than ever of needs in their lives that aren't being met: A need to have an anchor; a center; a point of reference in life; to figure some things out and gain a new perspective from time to time; to be known, to belong, to fit in; to feel alive and more intimately connected to God; to learn and grow and feel like "I'm going somewhere;" to rest and heal; to feel useful; to pursue what matters; to express what is "inside me." Could the church be the answer to those needs--and more? For you? For those you love? And if so, how? That's what this book is about.

Simple, 101 level, almost speaking-style motivation to join a church. Cannot criticize that! Didn’t find anything to be too novel, but it’s a written resource for someone who maybe isn’t ready for heavy theology.

Hostetler writes on a level accessible to those who have never been involved in the church, and engaging for those are "drop-outs" as well. Caters to a "what's in it for me" mindset.
