Johnny Appleseed is the tale of a group of merry pranksters who live off the grid—no credit cards, no cellphones—and travel the country, selling marijuana for cash and living it up in the shadow of their charismatic leader, Johnny Appleseed, who has something of the miraculous about him. But when Johnny steals the fiancee of a powerful but deranged Baptist preacher on the way through Memphis, all hell breaks loose, as the preacher feels like this is a sign from God, and drops off the grid to give chase and bring Johnny to justice. With the Feds closing in as well, the hijinks get increasingly hairier in this fun but complex story of love, betrayal, injustice and murder. Johnny Appleseed explores the growing tension of resisting a societal "system" that's increasingly hostile to resistance of any kind. The human drama and sexual tension playing out within Johnny's gang is set against the backdrop of a titanic struggle between two charismatic individuals: one a fearless outlaw king, the other a hellfire Baptist preacher bent on his destruction.

From the first chapter I was hooked on Blanchard's dynamic pranksters, and following the characters on their epic and debaucherous journey. A fun, dynamic, humorous read - definitely recommended!

A fantastic roller coaster you will want to ride!! Johnny Appleseed grips your attention in the prologue and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Keith Blanchard has given us characters to love and characters you love to hate. Hold on to your hats and glasses because this is one wild ride through the wilderness...and big cities! I don't want to give any spoilers, but the hi-jinks of this motley crew are equal parts crazy, insane, and endearing. Worth the money, you will want to give this another read to pick up what you missed the first go round. I have never been a smoker or a toker, but I thought all the references and lingo were hilarious! No need to light up a doobie, you will enjoy this 100% sober!

I am the author, so I hope this isn't taboo...GoodReads keeps asking me to rate and review my own book, so I guess that's what you're supposed to do (first-timer to self-publishing). I gave it 5 stars here b/c that's what it's averaging on Amazon, where it has seven reviews so far (one 4-star, six 5-star). Which is really encouraging; people are saying very nice things.
