Various is the correct author for any book with multiple unknown authors, and is acceptable for books with multiple known authors, especially if not all are known or the list is very long (over 50).

If an editor is known, however, Various is not necessary. List the name of the editor as the primary author (with role "editor"). Contributing authors' names follow it.

I learned that Gothic novels include lots of fainting princesses and random large suits of uninhabited armor. I suppose a castle and old men who chase the skirts of young women should also be thrown in there. The book was odd to read; at times it flowed and I scarcely counted the pages. But there was so much praising of and submitting to heaven that I at length ceased to take the words seriously. My biggest complaint it that the little novel ended so suddenly, as if the author ran out of steam and simply... stopped.
