About the author

Gina Bellisario is the author of many super books for kids, including Give Back, Camp Grandma and Grandpa, and the early chapter book series Ellie Ultra, which is about a third-grade superhero! Her first book, The Twelve Days of Christmas in Illinois, was recognized by the Illinois Office of Tourism, and most recently, Give Back was selected for the 2026 Illinois Reads program.

Matthew has a little brother named Owen. Owen doesn't know about the dangers of medicine. So Matthew helps his mom and grandma pick up and clean up all of the dangerous things in their home. They don't want Owen to get sick. Now Owen can have a danger free zone to live in.

Each page is filled with bright and colorful illustrations. The informative story teaches a lesson while also entertaining young readers. Children will learn all about potential dangers in the home and how to get rid of them. The extra information in the bubbles can be read with the story or at a later date for even more ideas and information about chemicals, houseplants, and other things that could pose a danger around the home. The last two pages are filled with more ways to learn. One page has a fun project for making a "green" household cleaner. Another page is a glossary of new or larger vocabulary that a child might encounter while reading the book. The last page has information for further reading.

This is a great story to teach young children about the harm in everyday things they see. The book follows a big brother (Mighty Matthew) and his quest to keep his little brother (Mega Mouth) safe from the harmful substances that can be found around their home both inside and outside. This book is very informative but the way the author chooses to explain each harmful situation or substance makes it easy for a child to understand. The illustrator chose a great way to make this book come alive from the layout to the colors on each page will really captivate a child and keep them interested.
