Fractal Geometry and Dynamical Systems in Pure and Applied Mathematics I: Fractals in Pure Mathematics

Rate this book
The three conferences were held in the shadow of the October 2010 death of Benoît Mandelbrot, widely regarded as the father offractal geometry. This volume contains 15 selected papers discussing connections between fractal geometry and dynamical system in pure mathematics and connections between these two and other fields of mathematics. The topic include separation conditions for iterated function systems with overlaps, the analysis and geometry of the measurable Riemannian structure on the Sierpinski Gasket, multifractal analysis via scaling zeta functions and recursive structure of lattice strings, Laplacian on Julia sets cubic Julia sets and formal matings, and curvature measures of fractal sets. There is no index. The second volume of proceedings focuses less on pure mathematics and more on applications in other sciences. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
