Phoenix, a hot-tempered Fire Elemental stationed in Manhattan, didn’t think life could get any worse. To improve his people skills, he is demoted from Wall Street fat-cat to lowly paramedic, where he must deal with humans at their very worst--and most vulnerable. The humans he has protected for centuries, but never dared get close to.

Abby, an ER doctor who lives for the job, notices an emerging pattern. Suicide attempts have skyrocketed, flooding her ER with victims. Coma patients go missing with no explanation. In her quest to learn the truth, the last thing she needs is a cocky paramedic with a chip on his shoulder.

But when they are forced to pair up, tempers ignite. Abby is stunned and fearful to discover Phoenix is an Elemental being; Phoenix learns that the rampant suicides befalling Manhattan are not a coincidence, but a planned strategy. Carlyle, leader of the evil Fallen Angel clan, has garnered special powers and has a new agenda--one that will reap innocent souls by the thousands.

Together, Phoenix and Abby must overcome their differences and save humanity--before they become the next target in Carlyle’s crosshairs.

I received this book for LOP in exchange for my honest review.

In book two we get to follow Phoenix the fire elemental as he has to learn that all of his actions have consequences. Abby an ER physician dedicated to her job, has to learn to let go of the past and to live her life again. Universe wants Phoenix to get close to Abby so that they can save more souls from the fallen angels. I love how the author can actually make you empathize with the fallen angels when they fail Lucifer and he inflicts his torturous punishments on them. I wish Cristos could've been saved from Lucifer's wrath, but in this installment we only get a brief at him and the punishment he is having to endure.

This was a fast read that kept me entranced from start to finish, definitely a series I want to follow until the very end!

I like this book better than the 1st one. It was infact true to the nature of the elemental character of this book, fire. I love how Phoenix falls with a human despite his character on the first one hated Brooke who did it first. The book had we going. The human in this story is more active and she actually has her own story. Also, found out about Cristos and I truly felt bad about his outcome. From Phoenix learning some life lessons, Lucifer and Ella into the mix was really interesting for me. This book i would say has more depth to it. A good book and a good read.

I enjoyed this second installment of the series much better than the first one. The plot was well-paced, the characters generally sympathetic, and the teenage character not too annoying. It could almost be called a coming-of-age novel except the hero, who badly needs to mature, is several hundred years old. The heroine seemed somewhat stiff at times, but she's understandable and easy to relate to, especially for a workaholic like me. Looking forward to book three!

This is the second book in Calloway's Elemental Clan series, the first one being Water's Blood. The elementals are beings imbued with spirits of air, water, fire and earth, who battle against the Minare, or Fallen Angels whose whole purpose in life is to corrupt and control.

In this book we continue our relationship with Phoenix who we met briefly in the first book, a stubborn hot-head who begins as a bit of an ass. But I say that in a nice way because Phoenix learns to actually care about humans, especially one named Abby. I won't give any spoilers but suffice to say in learning to behave in a reasonable way is part of Phoenix's tale. And the Minare are up to their old - yet new - tricks and this time they....well, you'll have to read it to find out.

I will tell you that Calloway has a way with her villians that I really enjoy. I was thrilled with the depth of them in the first book and enjoyed seeing another facet of the Minare in this book. But I didn't get the same shiver as I did in the first book. I think that was because our hero was a bit more overpowering than our first book's heroine. This takes nothing away from the villians though because you can tell that we haven't seen the worst of them yet!

There is a recognizable plot pattern to the story because Calloway uses a standard recipe but still puts her own unique twist to it. Dialogue is tight, the pacing and plot are very good. Despite the predictability, the tale is very well written.

I know we're going to move on to the next elemental in book 3. My wish is that after we get an in-depth look at all four of our main elementals, we get a fifth book showing a major confronation (and beat down) of the Minare. I trust Calloway and her style to make this series move forward toward a slam-bang finish.

I highly recommend this series to supernatural/paranormal/urban fantasy lovers. It is an uncomplicated, unpretentious (thank goodness), fun series but each book is good as a stand-alone too, and that's hard to achieve. Calloway is a talented author and I keep her high on my must-have list!

**** ARC received in exchange for honest review w/ lop ****

This is the second book in this series and you should read the first prior to this so you better understand the elementals and fallen angels.I gave this four stars but really i would say 3.5. ONLY because i wanted more, in the first book we got to see all four elementals working together and got a feel for it in this book we don't get that.

This book follows Phoenix which is the fire elemental for the US who is protecting the East Cost out of Manhattan, NY. He meets Abby who is a self assured ER doctor who puts up with NO bs. Do not think of going to HER ER and causing trouble because she will fight for her patients and Carlyle and his men learn this will the help of the fire boy.

This book does not have the suspense or action that the book had and i was a little sad by that but it is still a really good book and i cannot wait to see what Earth and Wind elementals do and have to deal with!

Happy Reading :)

After reading the authors 1st book in the series, Water's Blood, I was very interested in reading the next chapter in the Fallen Angels series! Phoenix is a temperamental yet quick witted fire elemental who has vowed to protect the humans, even though he won't allow himself to get close to them... Until he meets Abby. Abby is an ER doctor who has no problem going toe-to-toe with Phoenix, and she will stop at nothing to get to the truth! Although parts of the story didn't always "mesh" at times and the "banter" between Phoenix & Abby could be a tad childish, you can't miss the spark that flares between these two characters. The characters draw you in, the suspense keeps you intrigued, all in all it was a good read. Definitely looking forward to more from this author!

I enjoyed this book. It was an imaginative story with wonderful characters and a very fast read.

I enjoyed Phoenix's personal growth. He came a long way in becoming a better person and he learned to appreciate that his attitude had consequences. Abby is a strong character but there is some weakness in her personal life which makes her realistic. I loved the bad guys and the punishment that get's dished out when they don't follow thru with their orders. Ah, Karma! There are a few laughable moments as far as Alexi is concerned, he is an interesting guy.

I would recommend this book for both adults and YA readers.

New York just became the toughest place to live. Literally.
A rash of suicides have plagued the Big Apple, and Phoenix knows his arch enemy Carlyle is behind it. Things are heating up and that's when he meets Dr. Abby. If he thought he was fiery-literally since he's a fire elemental-he's about to get schooled. Abby is a firecracker, and this isn't insta-love. These two work to find their way to each other, all while dodging what goes bump in the night.
Raging Fire will take you on a paranormal tour from New York to Hell and back, with life and love hanging in the balance.

**I received this book in exchange for an honest review. LoP, Lovers of Paranormal**
This book was somewhat hard for me to get into. I didn't read Book 1 of this series, so I wasn't sure if I needed to. I liked the characters somewhat as a they started out in the story. A few times they were portrayed as immature. The story line was pretty good as far as good and evil go. I'd still recommend this as an add to your tbr list.

**2.5 to 3 stars**

I signed up to read and review this book when I saw it was available because I had recently won the first book in a blog giveaway and was eager to read them back to back. Unfortunately, I did not really care for book 1, WATER'S BLOOD, very much... but on the bright side, I DID think that this book was a good bit better! I hope you will read my review for Book 1 here, as much of it also pertains to this book. As I mentioned in that first review, I wasn't too eager to read RAGING FIRE after finishing book 1 for two main reasons: one, I didn't like book 1 very much, and two, I really didn't care for Phoenix's character in book 1. Luckily, he was pretty different in this book and did not bother me anything like he did in book 1. Phoenix is our main character here, and he is a Fire Elemental (Brooke was the main character in book 1, and she is the Water Elemental.) There is a reason that Phoenix is not such an a**hole in this book, and that is basically because he gets re-assigned from his cover job as a Wall Street "Master of the Universe" to a new cover job as an EMT because his boss, Universe, says he needs to work on his people skills (indeed). So, he has eaten some humble pie since we left book 1, which made him a much better character, in my opinion.

In addition to having a better character than I had anticipated, I also feel like Ms. Calloway's writing was stronger in this book. The story wasn't quite as rambling and drawn out as in book 1. It felt much shorter and was a faster read for me (taking two days as opposed to the SIX days it took me to read the first book!). The basic premise of the story is much the same as in book 1 - Elemental has to hold off/fight/defeat Fallen Angel Clan to save innocent human souls - and it seems like that is going to be the basic plot of (what I presume will be) all 4 books (dealing with the 4 Elementals, I would think). Unfortunately, despite some better aspects to this book overall, I was still not enamored of the characters. Abby was just...weird, and the bad guys were again pretty much caricatures of Evil Villains. Just when I thought Carlyle would be a "better" clan leader to read about than Soren in book 1, we have to read AGAIN about how their nefarious plan necessitates a whole lot of raping while they're reaping! Ugh. Again, yes I know they are Bad Guys and they do bad things, but the whole way in which rape is so flippantly discussed is just so distasteful to me. (However, I want to once again stress: you never actually read about the act! It's just them talking about going out and raping some women so they can at least impregnate them and create some obedient minions *that* way (I suppose because a child resulting from sex between an innocent human woman and a baddie fallen angel is necessarily a corrupted soul? I don't even wanna go there...).) Back to the character issue - funny enough, I thought the best character of all in this book was Phoenix! I was pleasantly surprised by that after really disliking him in book 1 and kind of dreading reading his story. He definitely had some humor, which was a nice change from Brooke in the first book.

Overall, while RAGING FIRE was better than WATER'S BLOOD for me, I do not plan to continue on with the series. I really like to read urban fantasy and read a good amount of it, but these books just aren't doing it for me. I do sincerely appreciate the author sharing her book through the Read2Review program of the Lovers of Paranormal group, and I thank her for the chance to read it. If you enjoy urban fantasy and don't mind if it's a bit cartoonish or campy, you may very well enjoy these books, so please give them a go if you're interested!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review for LoP. The author has some interesting ideas about good and evil and does a good job describing New York City the setting of the story. Good are the Elementals gifted with a talent for an element (earth, wind, fire, water) from the creator and put on Earth to live among humans and protect them from evil. The Evil Fallen Angels work for Lucifer to corrupt humans however in this story they play out like the 3 Stooges. Good and Evil are not “allowed” to kill each other – can’t upset the “balance” in the world but it’s OK to take out some humans when necessary.

I read this as a stand-alone so without the benefit of the first story I didn’t see the fire and rage in Phoenix as much as the immaturity which is odd for someone so old. Abby the human ER doctor is also very immature, especially for someone who’s practicing medicine. The dialog among the characters reminds me more of 17 year olds. None of them seem real and I couldn’t get invested in them. This just didn’t live up to my expectations. Nothing raging here, just a slow burn…

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review - Lovers of Paranormal.

I was so looking forward to this book that I think I may have set my sights too high. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one in the series, Water's Blood.

A few things just didn't sit right for me this time. Phoenix was good and the character well written but the Fallen Angels just didn't do it for me this time. I also missed Cristos from the first book and didn't like where he ended up, surely his attempts at 'goodness' deserved better. The Fallen Angels this time seemed inconsistent and the characters weren't 'believable' the way they were in the first book. There were other parts of the story that didn't quite add up for me too. The Fallen Angels were holding Abby in chains, waiting for Phoenix to show up and when he did they tied him in ropes...really?...a Fire Elemental in ropes?

Having said all this I enjoyed the book and will definitely read the next book in the series. I can't wait to read more about the other Elementals.

I started reading the first quarter and scanned through the ending. It was hard for me to get into the book probably because I couldn't really connect to the characters. Although what kept me going was the story flow was interesting and I do love reading about elementals. The relationship between Abby and Phoenix was a bit slow and dragging but they are meant to be together plus they seriously combust. I just find Abby's character too much especially in the first part when she wanted Phoenix to admit the truth. What I do like about Abby is her ability to care and save other people but besides that I really find her to be immature.

I still plan to continue reading this series if only to find out how it ends.

I loved this book! Phoenix, the main character, is someone I identified with easily. He's hot tempered, quick witted and he is quick to react to situations.

This book also had heavy suspense, intense scenes particularly as we get toward the end and the fight scenes. I also liked Phoenix and Abby's relationship; that was a draw for me to read this book as well.

I enjoyed watching Phoenix grow and mature throughout the book. He began to be more aware of human feelings and emotions, which was interesting to read about.

I was given this book for an honest review for Lovers of paranormal. While i enjoyed this book and I did like Phoenix and Abby's relationship... at times Abby seems too immature for being a doctor.
While Elaine Calloway did a fantastic job describing the characters and the city, at points the book dragged on just a little for me. I will re-read it in the future to see if I get really into next time. I feel that i need to read the first book in order to see how some of the characters are the way they are...(if that made any sense. :P)

Ah……the story of Phoenix. The guy has attitude and is the Fire Elemental, but does not know how to talk with humans, especially women. He has to eat crow and get advice on humans from Brooke (the water elemental). I found this story very interesting. The things that happen to Phoenix, granted they are mostly his fault, makes for a good story line. The sense of Good vs. Evil and a strong moral message is what I took away from reading this book. Looking forward to reading Earthbound.

A shiver and a snicker and a paranormal world--that eerily resembles the world we live in. This is what this author brings to the table in RAGING FIRE, Book 2 of her Elemental Clan Series.

I keep looking over my shoulder, trying to isolate her Elementals in my day to day life, and I'm very glad they would condsider me one of the good guys!
