RED, RED, RED. Let's start with the complete lack of editing, move on to the fact that the main characters names were Rhett and Scarlett, and end with the fact that he certainly didn't give a damn. I can deal with alpha-hole characters, but this guy would have to climb up ten rungs on the evolutionary ladder to even be on the bottom of that scale. OMG....NO!
First off... I'd like to say that this author wrote ROMANCE BOOK CLUB which is also a BDSM novel and it was AMAZING! It was exactly how you picture a D/S relationship should be. So I was excited about reading this one.
...
Until I read it.
The following gifs can tell you better how I feel about this book than meer words ever could:
So, now... let's go into why I was horrified, sickened and diguested by this shall we?
Scarlett is a 24 year old college graduate that is still a virgin. Her best friend Janie decides it is time to show Scarlett the lifestyle she lives because she doesn't want to keep it from her any longer. David, who is Janie's boyfriend and Dom agrees to bring Scarlett to his friend Rhett's home. Scarlett is just going to observe. But when she literally runs into Rhett, all bets are off. Not only is she turned on by the things she see's in the dungeon, she is turned on by Rhett. Rhett is drawn to Scarlett. The two decide to take 10 days and explore the Dom/Sub relationship. Rhett tries to give Scarlett all the desires he know women want. But do some of them cross the line for her, maybe. She is so totally into him that she decides to step out of her comfort zone to experience some of these things. Will any of these things push her to far? Will Rhett realize that she is not into the lifestyle that he leads? Will the two be able to find common ground or will the 10 days be the end of their relationship?
This book has a lot of errors. There are parts where Scarlett is called Leigh...is that a typo, was the author going to name the lead character Leigh & then changed her mind? Some of the sentences don't make sense and the wrong tense is used. The book has potential but needs some corrections made.
Ok so I do not do long drawn out reviews so let's get right to the point. This story really sucked!! I'm all for strong alpha males and BDSM themes, but the hero in this book was just an asshole and treated her like shit. I wont even bore you with how bad the editing was as far as characters being called the wrong name all the time. I could have easily given this book 4 stars if 1. Rhett had redeemed himself at any point in the story or 2. The story had not ended with him trying to RAPE her WITHOUT her knowledge and then BAMMMM he asks her to marry him and she says YESSSSSSSS!!!! Are you kidding me??? 24 hours ago the man tried to brutally rape you and mentally fucked you to the point that a shrink had to be called in and you want to marry him??? He didn't even have to redeem himself or even explain himself you just magically become ok with him raping you.
This was such a great read! Did Rhett make some bad choices? Sure, but you have to remember what a unique situation this was. Not only is Scarlett completely new to the lifestyle, Rhett is wholly unused to the emotions that she brings out in him and the feelings he has for her. I loved him even with all of his flaws! I don't understand all of the negative reviews. Its called FICTION for a reason. Its like they are all saying "You can fantasize and write about and even practice BDSM, but only if you do it MY way." That is just stupid. The one thing I do wish I could have changed was the way Scarlett had a TOTAL melt down constantly. It was never just a little bit of tears but complete mental breakdown. Also the ending was way too abrupt. Other than that it was a fantastic story!
I hated him! He was this arrogant asshole. He is so fixated on breaking her, telling her to stay with him as his slave (ARGHHHH!!!), treats her like crap in that one scene and then he was on his knee asking her to marry her? Suddenly willing to turn his back on his lifestyle? WTH? Nah, this wasn't it for me. I did like the relationship her best friend had. She and her lover had a BDSM relationship which strictly remained in the bedroom and when they were both willing to play, but other than that they were in a loving/bantering relationship.
There was too many editing problems to give this book more than 2 stars. I can tolerate a few editing problem, but there was just too many in this one. How the book ended just did not make any sense to me. I won't go into details but Rhett did something that led Scarlett to unconsolable and then a couple chapters later all is forgiven and they become engaged. They never discussed what happened. This book would probably be a three star or maybe a four star book if the editing was better and the author did something more with the ending.
The story itself was okay, but could have been better. Everything else pretty much sucked. This book so needed an editor. The main female character's name is Scarlett, but Rhett (yes, I said Rhett) calls her Leigh sometimes with no explanation as to why. The book didn't flow every well for me. Too much time was spent on trivial things and not enough time building their actual relationship, in my opinion. I don't know if I would read this author again because this one was just so bad.
Awful!!! Nothing like taking an awful book and making it more terrible by adding a rape scene with your "slut". Oh wait she's the love of your life...my mistake. This guy is not a dominant. He's an asshole. She's not an innocent. She's pathetic and stupid. This book just brought down D/s relationships soooooooo many levels.
First things first, who the hell is Leigh?! I suspect this book was to be called Leigh' s temptation? This book has potential, I enjoyed the overall story but it needs some serious editing (kindle edition).
Truly mesmerizing! Fun, fun , fun!!!! Dungeon play with a full test of one's will. Heart pumping, racing, palpitating scenes to make one dream to scram their safe word. Talking about pushing and testing one's limits. Excellent play time fun!!!!
I truly think an epilogue was needed her to see how everything panned out. Did she fall pregnant? Does he treat her better know he knows that's he's in love with her? So many unanswered questions
