Although I prefer others of the Arjuna books, this is still a nice book from the Family series which depicts a snippet of real life in, potentially, Bombay. The cultural links don't feel forced and are more implicit rather than explicit which is how I feel in my reading when I encounter some books written by non-native authors. The story itself is not as engaging as others in the series - it tells of Arjuna desperately waiting for the rains to fall and as he travels through his home town, the reader gets glimpses into the world he inhabits which could and probably is a far cry from many of the readers.
