I went down a star because the first chapter has some inaccurate information about reading, but the rest of the book has 5-star material. Ramsden’s work inspired the Bowers brothers to start Structured Word Inquiry--(SWI). Pete Bowers’s book is highly derivative of this book, and the current SWI books are highly derivative of Bowers’s book. If you have to pick one, go with Teaching How the Written Word Works by Pete Bowers.
