I started reading this a couple of chapters at a time to my five-year old niece. I have to confess that I was so involved in the story that I just read it to the end by myself. This is a great adventure story that I would recommend to early primary graders. It also has some great humor for adults (such as fairies are more vicious than ogres--after watching True Blood I can certainly believe that). I was really engaged by the two main characters', an troll and a human female orphan girl, friendship. I hope the author is planning a sequel with their further adventures.

I received this book as a surprise add-on to a Goodreads win of the author's book, The Dinosaur in My Backyard, but this has in no way impacted my review. I'm just happy to get to read a great book that I would never have found on my own.

I received this book through the Goodreads Firstreads program in exchange for my honest review.
The idea behind this book was really cute and clever but it never really got me that interested. It wandered from thing to thing in a random chain of events that didn't really draw you through the story. With a little more character development and history as to why things were happening this could have been a great book. It was just ok and it could have been great.

I loved everything about this book! It's perfect reading for children, so imaginative and interesting. You can really get behind the characters. And, a positive message about tolerance. But, beware, it's not all flowers and rainbows.

I loved it!! It was such a fun book about trolls and a human child. She was so brave and gave all trolls strength to fight back for there life. Such a great book for young children to read.
