The Cinderella of Asian cities, Singapore has shrugged off its reputation for being boring and stepped into the 21st century with style. As well as being one of the world’s premier fashion and food centres, the city now excites travellers with a buzzing bar scene, hip modern arts and a cultural mix like no other. (8th Edition). This is the least helpful travel guide I have ever encountered. It is hopelessly out of date (though it looks like a new edition will be out later this year). Major destinations, like Marina Bay Sands and most of Sentosa Island's offerings, were not even constructed when the current edition was published.
The travel information is outdated and unhelpful, especially the bus routes to the Night Safari and Malaysian Border.
The most egregious faults lie in the walking tour and neighborhood maps. Sights are listed with their grid coordinates, but then they are not marked within the grid or inset maps, leaving you with a half mile radius to crisscross in search of a sight. Not helpful.
There were a few interesting cultural factoids interspersed, which I was able to bust out and impress my Singapore-resident cousin with.
