It remains surprising that this is the best book I've seen for counting and comparing numbers 1-10. It doesn't have quite the same repetition as Kumon, (and indeed we sequenced it after Kumon 1-10 but before 1-30), but it more than makes up for this with a variety of exercises that keep numbers interesting and help with the true understanding of number sense and subitizing. I've now used it twice and hope to use it again with number 3.

Lol - we kept this around because there are finger puppets at the back and we finally made them!
