A small Texas town has the usual features that can't be missed: iced tea, friendly people, and of course, the searing heat of summer. All of which suited Stacey Johnson just fine if it weren't for the fact that all around her were folks settling down in marriage.
She had lost her chance when her high school love Josh had left behind their small hometown for the bright lights and wide avenues of New York. Slowly, she closed herself to the outside world and the possibilities of love.
But then, just like in her dreams, Josh suddenly stood in front of her again, with his lopsided grin and piercing gray blue eyes. Will Stacey lose her chance once again?
The idea of the one that got away...there are a lot of stories out there like that, this being one of them. Twelve years have past for these characters, they hook up and then he is gone only leaving a note. I felt very let down.
Ummm this book is so short! Not much background story, barely any present day story, and the ending was just ridiculous... I am not impressed at all with this 20 page "book" and now that I've read it, i will be removing it from my kindle as i wont be rereading it in the future.
This was more a vignette than a real story at 20 pages. The heroine has been pining for 12 years because she didn't tell her high school sweetheart she loved him before he swept off to fame and fortune in New York.
Now he turns up and he is splashing money, hot cars and having waitresses drool all over him. He even tips her an enormous amount.
Not really very much of anything. There is sex...standard fairly explicit to justify the erotica tag. The ending leaves you wondering if this is going to be one of those eternal serials that are so prolific on Amazon these days.
I have to admit the cover of this book is what caught my attention (yes sometimes I judge a book by it's cover and this book screamed You Will Love Me). This book is better then the cover shows. She has loved him for years but never had the nerve to tell him, he is back in town he says it's Vacation/Retirement but could that be the Real reason he is back? That ending? WHAT?!
