In this action-packed supernatural thriller, an unconventional gunfighter joins forces with a preacher and his daughter to travel to the netherworld and close the Gates of Hell.
Reno Nevada is a gunslinger with a fondness for elaborate rigs. When people from his past in search of a map that leads to treasure ambush him, he finds himself not only trying to get revenge for the loss of his old, peaceful life but in a race to stop the gates of hell from opening.
It's a brief pulp western, but it's quite well done. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and both the characters and action are excellent. The only downside was the default font size is large, and if you're a Christian the idea of literal, earthly gates to hell is a no-go. But for an action-packed supernatural pulp western it was good. About novella length I think.
Saw this book available for free and thought I would try it out as the premise sounded interesting. Had some reservations but there were limited reviews so I couldn't get much of a feel for the book. Should have stuck with my instincts as I decided within the first couple pages that this wasn't the book for me. My opinion is no reflection on the author as I didn't get far enough into the book to form an opinion on writing style. I just didn't like the drunk, foul-mouthed Reno Nevada and decided that I didn't want to waste my precious reading time on him. Reno's language is probably what is to be expected from a cowboy willing to ride to Hell (being used as an actual place from what I can determine - not a curse word) but I write this review for those who might be like me and wish to have more information to help them decide if they want to start the book or not.
