Why Israel? The Anatomy of Zionist Apartheid - A South African Perspective

Rate this book
Israel’s military occupation of Palestine is horrifically reminiscent of South Africa’s Apartheid past. Yet, pro-Israel apologists are shocked that the Zionist entity is being compared to Apartheid South Africa. In response, Zionists ask “Why Israel?”

South African activists, Suraya Dadoo and Firoz Osman answer that question. They examine how and why Apartheid applies to the situation in Palestine by using expert academic analysis, commentaries, articles, and blogs of well-known and highly-respected activists and human rights organisations, as well as reports from NGOs with extensive on-the-ground experience in the region.

The result is a comprehensive and easy-to-understand investigation into Israel’s colonization of Palestine, and its corrupting influence on the world. In a pioneering contribution, they also reveal how the South African Zionist lobby has been trying extend its sphere of influence within government and the media in South Africa.

Why Israel? is essential reading for high school and university students, academics, journalists, researchers, and Palestinian solidarity activists – anyone wanting to fully understand the harsh contemporary realities of Apartheid Israel's oppressive occupation of Palestine.

When the Arabs realized in 1973 that militarily defeating Israel was impossible they embarked on a diabolical dual strategy of ruthless terrorism against civilians (mainly women and children) and the greatest, most destructive and venomous propaganda machine in history to make Dr Goebbels look like a bumbling amateur.

Of course a lot of their work had been done for them in the totalitarian Soviet Union (the land of gulags and terror). That is where the entire 'Zionism is racism' blood libel was created and its follow on that 'Israel is an apartheid state'. Since South Africa is effectively governed through elites that were trained in the old Soviet Union (and those that were trained in turn by them), as well as Muslim extremists who pull the strings, is it any wonder that South Africa is one of the main breeding grounds of this type of propagandist hateful filth.

Certainly given the dominance of this anti-Israel hate industry in the universities, media, NGOs etc one can feel like an infant David up against an army of Goliaths, but someone somewhere has to speak truth to the tsunami of hate.
The writers of this book Suraya Dadoo and Firoz Osman are lead figures in the Media Review Network an organization that has defended Holocaust denial, identifies with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Hamas and Hezbollah and seems to favour Sharia Law.

As is evident in the title of the book, the authors accuse Israel of being an Apartheid State. This is a vicious blood libel.
Almost 2 million people living in Israel are not Jews.
No laws on statute books prescribing living areas or movements.
Unlike under South African Apartheid laws there is no Israeli ideology, policy or plan to segregate mistreat or persecute the Arab population.
In Israel the State owns 93% of the land, which is leased to all citizens regardless of race. The remaining 7% can be bought by all
Israeli citizens.
There is no official separate schooling in Israel;people choose schools for their religious, linguistic or cultural background.
Non-Jews can become citizens if they comply with necessary immigration requirements as anywhere in the world.
Non-Jews can serve in the army as volunteers.
Israeli Arabs are full citizens, enjoy full political rights, can vote and stand for election and political association- hardly
Apartheid. but the aim of propaganda like this is the extinction of Israel and it's replacement by another Muslim state in which the ethnic cleansing of the Jews will obviously follow-so who are the real racists?

The authors of the book do not answer the question at all why they and their ilk are so unconcerned about the genocide in Darfur , Ukraine and Sri Lanka , murderous gender oppression across the Islamic world (especially in their much favoured Iran) , torture and murder of dissidents in North Korea, Zimbabwe , Iran and China to name a few, politicide in Syria, the repression and genocide of the Kurds, Berbers and people of Tibet.
But as the old song go's 'I only have eyes for you'
what makes this worse is the sheer persecution and bullying by these hate mongers of anyone who tries to speak up for Israel's right to exist or the human rights of Israelis. they make no apologies for using all means they can fair or foul to silence any voice for Israel.

After reading this drivel, all I wanted to do was take a shower and wash it off. This is a piece of hateful, deceitful, bigoted dreck vomited out by someone with an obvious axe to grind. And it can appeal only to those with a similar worldview. Even then, if you happen to be a purveyor of such opinions, you'd be better served by reading Mein Kampf. The same type of content.

Everyone somehow believes that we live in a bi-polar world: either a world of reality, or a world of delusion. Because our reality seems to be shaped by what we are fed on mainstream media, we have come to accept this delusion as reality and have foolishly made peace with it. This is indeed dangerous, very dangerous.

The truth is that no-one can think for you or decide for you. Yes, they can provide you with information and data, but they can not influence your decisions. But this can only happen if honest and uncensored information is provided, and there seems to be only propaganda and lies fed to us...

Wrong. Although not found on the mainstream platform, with a little digging and effort, the truth can be ascertained. There are still hundreds of truth-loving citizens all over the world, there are journalists who risk their lives to report as it happened and there are millions of people who will sacrifice their life for justice. Added to this, we now also have "WHY ISRAEL?", a book noted for its painstaking efforts in scouring the globe for the side of the story not often told by the world.

The co-authors of the voluminous book, Dr Firoz Osman and Suraya Dadoo, are long standing patrons of the Media Review Network - a vigorous advocacy group in SA devoted to amongst other issues, the Palestinian problem, which seems to be only becoming more and more complex day by day. They have made a bold attempt at telling the "untold" side and to make the unofficial version, official.

The itself book is a welcome departure from other books in this genre in that it does not have a historically academic approach - an approach that's says: "I'm only useful for students of politics and history." Rather, its language is fresh, contemporary and inviting. It provides a window to the general masses on the inner nefarious workings of the Zionist entity, which if allowed to flourish in the way they currently do, will influence the ethos of world politics to flourish upon devilish lines ...

The uniqueness of this book is undoubtedly in its comprehensive nature. Covering all of 68 chapters, it provides an update on issues right up to late 2012. Reading through the pages on the various Zionist atrocities meticulously planned and carried out with complete impunity may give a sense of helplessness, but the authors have inspired us with hope.

And this, to me, is what reveals the purpose of the authors in publishing this work. It's not just a chronicle of the political misdemeanours and misguided religiosity of the Zionists, but a plea to humanity: like how the frail Saul killed the mighty Goliath, likewise Israel is not the invincible monster we are led to believe. In fact, we can, and people have, engaged them on various levels of this conflict. Everyone can and should play a part in the struggle, and all will come up with varying degrees of success.

For example, the authors have documented various efforts, like the recalling of the SA Ambassador to Israel in June 2010 when the Zionists fired upon the humanitarian flotilla delivering aid to Gaza, the pressure of the BDS Movement upon Reggies, the retail toy giant of SA, to cut off ties with the JNF, and the announcement of Rob Davies, the SA Minister of Trade and Industry, to introduce legislation calling for the re-labelling of goods from illegal settlement in the Occupied Territories. On page 632, the authors should be lauded for saying: "Now is the time for America - the pit-bull of Isreal and which finds itself on the wrong side of history all the time due to Israel - to abort its ties to and controls imposed by its unreasonable support for a state that walls in those it does not like or tolerate".

For South Africans in particular, coming from an Apartheid past, the authors have helped us to understand - in chapter 37,- the similarities between SA and Apartheid Israel. The Israelis have, however, taken great pains to show us that Israel does not practice Apartheid, and the authors have excellently debunked these myths. In doing so, Osman and Dadoo have restored our faith in our own thinking abilities and are alluding that if any nation can champion the cause of Palestine, South Africans can do it the best.

One of the best books I have read on the subject. Very clear lines of comparison between Apartheid SA and Apartheid Israel. No human deserves the treatment the people of Palestine are going through while the International community is sitting out there still discussing whether Palestinian human rights are being violated or not. All the myths about the decades long crisis busted with validated facts including those on the PLO, PA, Hamas, Fatah, IDF, anti-Semitism, Israel on the map of the world, international community involvement in the crisis. Lists the biased media, services, companies, nations and people besides providing with all the legitimate links to follow for the real information.
If you have doubts or are still on the wrong side of history, read the book before the map of the world is changed for good and we are deprived of the truth.

A sad but important read. I read the CUFI version, not sure if this is the same.
