The only word to describe Boarding, the 1st book of The Jessie Carter Fashion Series by D.D. Symms, is Hot! Get ready for a fast paced, erotic read that will hold your attention from the very first page.
Jessie Carter has big dreams and to achieve these dreams she will have to take huge chances and step way out of her comfort zone. Despite her boyfriend's qualms she heads to New York to chase her dreams. Lucky for her, she meets all kinds of interesting, quirky characters that are happy to help her out of her comfort zone.
This is a tale of a woman chasing her dreams, letting go of the things that make her feel safe and exploring her sexuality. Boarding has it all - menage, bdsm, fun characters and an infuriating boyfriend. I must admit this book sneaked up on me, but I'm so glad that I read it and definitely plan to read more of this series.
This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest review.
The story starts out with Jessie sitting in the office of the very delectable Torrey, manager for Veve Rousoulette. While Jessie waits to see if Torrey wants her fashion designs, she begins to fantasize about the man.
Okay! This grabbed my attention. D.D. Symms's descriptions are so well done I feel as if I'm right in the room with them. And then—heaven help me!—the utterly adorable Callan, Torrey's assistant, makes his entrance. Oh yes! This man could have a story all to himself and I'd gobble it up.
By this point I'm totally hooked. The author takes us into the fast paced, sensual world of high fashion. A world Jessie is very much at home in. As Jessie begins to make a name for herself as a top designer, we're also taken on her sizzling journey as she explores the sexual side of her nature with the men and women she meets.
Throw in some mild but super sexy BDMS play (We get to see a lot of Callan! Swoon) and a jealous boyfriend and you have one hot, totally satisfying read.
This was a hot tale of one woman's search for recognition in her chosen career. Jessie was a heroine I could easily identify with, and I laughed out loud at some of her misadventures. I found her boyfriend far less likable, I have to say, though the author did explain his motives somewhat towards the end. The story was an interesting peek behind the scenes of the fashion industry, and showed the devotion and hard work, and to some degree, luck, that's required to make it in this world. A large cast of supporting characters carries this story, and I hope they'll make a re-appearance in future stories, as I loved the peek into their lives. There are plenty of hot sex scenes in this book that will have you reaching for your fan. You've been warned! There is no HEA, however. Jessie's relationship with her boyfriend is sort of left in limbo, and I assume this will get resolved in future books. I'd have liked to see more of a resolution, but then I'm a sucker for a happy ending. All in all this was an entertaining read, and I'll look forward to what Jessie will get up to next.
