The Santa Switch

When it comes to the biggest toy drop of the year, Santa Claus gets the credit -- but he could hardly do it alone! In "The Santa Switch," Mrs. Claus becomes the fabulous tour-de-force she's always had the potential to be. This modern version of Mrs. C. believes in equality, compassion, and continuing education. She loves her good-natured, big-hearted husband, and they share the same vision -- but she's definitely the "doer" to his "dreamer". And, while Jessica Claus is CEO (Chief Elf Optimizer) of the world's most successful toy factory, she also loves to kick off her shoes and bake up a storm, spreading holiday joy to anyone willing to believe in a little Christmas magic.

The positive, gender-empowering message, lovable spin on legendary characters, and eye-catching illustrations found within "The Santa Switch" are sure to warm hearts and tickle funny bones of the young and the young-at-heart...making it a treasured read for all at Christmastime!

I tried to come up with an adjective to describe this book and I think the best I can come up with is Enchanting with a capital E. I’m not altogether sure what “Enchants” me more. The story itself or the Illustration. What I am sure of is the team of Laura Lee Scott and Cheryl Crouthamel created something big, It’s a twist on a classic story , funny, witty , colorful and very entertaining. I think what I like best is the behind the scenes happenings on each page and of course the little mouse.
We all know the story of that Chubby guy in the red suit that lives up north affectionately known as Santa Claus. There has always been those Non-Believers (and you know who you are) that always questioned the feasibility of how one man can accomplish so much in one night let alone handle the day to day things to make such an operation work so well. Sure we all know about Mrs. Claus. You know the jolly Chubby old lady that stays in the kitchen baking cookies for the big guy…

HAH! I bet you didn’t even know her name! Well let me introduce you to Jessica Claus. The woman behind the man , Lets just say right beside him. Sure while Santa may be the face of the operation Jessica is not only the Brains but the backbone of it all. Yeah she still bakes cookies ( for 5,000 hungry Elves) She’s the one that keeps those very same elves happily working and making toys, acts as Coach at he reindeer flying school, keeps track of the LIST, All this while she studies for her Masters in Elfology.Yes to say the least Mrs Claus has her hands full and still has time to listen to Santa talk about HIS tough day. So with a Twinkle in HER eyes she starts to think…

This is not the Mrs Claus you thought you knew.

Read this book and you’ll discover what really goes on up north. The partnership of the Mr.and Mrs. Claus. How one could not survive without the other. Filled with poetic verse it truly is Enchanting. So when Christmas Eve rolls around and you hear stomping hooves on your roof or the sound of jingle bells don’t be surprised at what else you might see…Because a girl’s gotta have a little fun too!

Author Laura Lee Scott and illustrator, Cheryl Crouthamael, have a hit on their hands. Equally entertaining and amusing ,The Santa Switch tells the story of the independent, modern-day Jessica Claus–the other part of the holiday powerhouse team that gets so little adoration. The tale keeps children entranced with its rhymes, friendly characters that you will want to bring home, and vivid, sharp illustrations that get better and better with each turn of the page. Everything about this book is fun: the font, the little mouse and the sweet tone. A Christmas tale to share, this has new classic written all over it. I look forward to more Jessica Claus stories. Well done, ladies!

Set to the rhyme of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, The Santa Switch is a delightful Christmas tale about how Mrs. Claus earns the right to deliver the presents this year.

Santa comes home from hanging with the reindeer and tracks snow in the clean house. He doesn't even bother to clean it up. Mrs. Claus who has been busy cleaning, preparing for Christmas Eve present delivery, and planning the elves' Gratitude Supper is at wits end and in need of a break. Santa, being a jolly old elf, recognizes the error of his ways and decides Mrs. Claus has worked so hard to make Christmas a success that she deserves to deliver the toys too. Will Mrs. Claus take Santa up on this offer?

The Santa Switch is a brilliant take on the events that lead up to Christmas morning. Although, Santa gets all the glory every wife knows that without her planning and support no man, including Santa, could get all he needs to get done for such a grand event. The illustrations are bold and eye-catching adding to the charm of this wonderful tale.

I greatly enjoyed The Santa Switch and plan to share it with kids and grandkids for years to come. I highly recommend picking up a copy.

I received a copy of this free for an honest review which I've given. This originally appeared on my blog Christy's Cozy Corners.

In The Santa Switch, poor Mrs. Claus, or Jessica as she'd like to be known, is all a flutter. There is so much to be done and Santa is out playing with the reindeer! Santa, being the great guy he is, recognizes that Jess needs some help! He starts the laundry and even mops up the mud he tracked in on the floor. Jess can't believe her eyes! And then Santa does something even more unexpected. He asks her if she'd like to switch jobs with him for Christmas! Will she do it? Read to find out!

This is a wonderful book for "kids young & old", with a "twist" on the story of Santa. It shows how "behind every good man, there is a good woman", as it depicts how much Mrs. Claus contributes to getting things ready for the big night of Christmas Eve. I know that your kids and/or grandkids will be very interested in the story, plus the illustrations are so big, bright & colorful, they can't help but love it! Be sure to look for the very cute little hidden mouse on every page. I highly recommend this book be added to your Christmas list! You will enjoy it year after year!

This book is wonderful! It's a great twist on the typical stories told about Santa. I bought a couple copies so I could share the stories with friends. I think it's a great story to share with kids and one that they'll want to learn to read on their own!

This book is clever, creative and very well written. The rhyme is catchy and fun to read; the plot is innovative, modern and funny.

At the beginning of the story, the reader meets a very busy Santa who has become very messy and neglectful of his wife. He walks into the house dragging in mud after having fun getting his sleigh outfitted with a new sound system. Meanwhile, we learn that Mrs. C has been doing all the housework, keeping track of children's lists from all around the world, managing the elves building toys in the workshop, caring for the "reins," and doing all the cooking for more than 5,000. Not to mention the fact, Mrs. C is also studying online for a Master's Degree in Elfology! Like many moms in households around the world, she is exhausted.

But the reader finds out Santa does not mean to be insensitive and he sits down to have a heart to heart talk with Mrs. C that makes him realize he has become too involved in Christmas business to notice anything or anyone else. Santa apologizes and hatches a plan that has a lot to do with the title of the book; I will leave that up to you to guess!

The illustrations in this e book are big, bright and bold providing a feast for the eyes of children and adults alike. I really enjoyed the clever touches like a reindeer wearing a shirt that says, "The buck stops here."

I highly recommend that the family take a few minutes to sit down and enjoy this pleasurable book together. It is sure to become a holiday favorite.

The Santa Switch by Laura Lee Scott is such a fun book to read. We get a glimpse of life at the North Pole from the perspective of Mrs. Claus. So often a background character, it’s nice to see her come to life. The reader gets to know her on a first-name basis. We see all the duties she does to help her famous husband, and to top it all off, she’s even enrolled in on-line graduate school. I don’t want to spoil the ending, but it’s a fun surprise. The story flows in rhyme and is delightful to read. The illustrations by Cheryl Crouthamel are adorable and even look great on my Kindle. I really enjoyed The Santa Switch.

I read this story to my nephew around Christmas time and we both really enjoyed it. Although it focused more on Mrs. Claus and her character, my nephew loved it and was engaged the entire time we read! The rhyme and illustrations are beautiful and flow nicely throughout the book.

This book has a unique theme and is different than any other Christmas story we have read. It was amazing to see Mrs. Claus come out of her husband's shadow and perform duties which can only inspire young readers. This books is warm, gentle, fun and can be read time and time again! We look forward to reading more from Laura Lee Scott.

I love the pictures in this book they are so bright and clever. I was hoping to sit and read this book with my grandchildren however I'm no longer feeling that. I dont believe this to be a snuggle cuddle feel good kids Christmas book. However sharing this with my young married children is a fun idea, showing how we as married couples need to work together with our spouse to keep each other happy.

Jessica Claus is not appreciated by Santa especially with the big day coming up. Well she sets Santa straight and he realizes and quickly appreciates all that she does to keep the North Pole running smoothly.

Great story for kids and will make a great holiday story to read over and over.

It does leave you hanging so you have to read A Trip for Mrs Claus to see how the story ends!
