Not really to my taste. I found it depressing, which was possibly the point. The blurb in the back promised an insight into Chinese folk-tales, which this wasn’t.

A wonderful collection of Chinese short stories. The first part of the book is autobiographical and the latter contains a number of intelligent short stories.
