English/German

Iryna Kupchynska’s essays reflect on the in-betweenness and simultaneous presence in the peaceful vineyards of Southern Germany and the war reality of Ukraine, which repels a full-scale military attack by Russia. Those are the texts about the ubiquitous presence of war once you met it, the usual objects that tell chilling stories, landscapes that carry protection, – and how was that: to live with the war since 2014, – the guilt, the pain, – and hope. English texts are followed by Yevgeniy Breyger’s German translation.

Photos that capture visual reminders of war are a result of the photo hunt of German photographer Caspar Sänger. Korean composer Jong hoon Kim composed 3 powerful pieces for the piano inspired by 3 essays. Essays and poems were performed live at the art residency and by scanning the QR codes inside or entering the links into the Internet search, you can listen to the pieces and watch the recording of the performance.

It is a project of transmedia storytelling, immersing into the experience of feeling the war from various distances: physical, emotional, and artistic.
