Written by Gladys Taber's daughter, whom I found to have a more engaging writing style than her mother, this is a lovely little ode to the pleasures and perils of having a skunk for a family pet. Less allergenic than a kitten, but less work than a puppy? Not so much, particularly when they can fit under the washing machine. But equally adorable-sounding? Absolutely.

This was a completely random read and I loved every single page. A true story of a NYC family that has a house skunk as a pet in the 70s. I'm not getting a skunk. But man, I ate this one up. Who knew skunks love bacon so?

It was a sweet book but a sad ending. A lot of proof why humans shouldn’t own wild animals.
