You hear about love triangles and trifling behavior outside the church, but what happens when it is brought inside the church? Sometimes things happen so unexpectedly you are at a loss for words. Kimberly, A well-known loose church goer, finds herself in a situation that might just take her all to overcome it.
Trying to overlook judgments from family, friends, coworkers and most of all church-goers, she finds herself in a struggle. Does she have what it takes to win or will it be a fight for life? Going to church trying to better herself, she finds herself feeling “worse” after leaving services. I thought the church was supposed to build you up and not, tear you down.
Kimberly on the other hand is battling in every single area of her life, spiritual, mental, relationships and friendships. Elise, Kimberly’s best friend is a goody-two-shoe until she finds a temptation she can’t quite resist. Do you fight your flesh or do you give in to what makes you feel good at the moment. Many morals and values are tested, like a battle between good and evil, right and wrong.
I originally planned on giving this 2 stars, but based on goodreads rating scale, 2 stars means "it was ok". If 2 stars meant I didn't like it, then I would have chosen 2 stars, but that's what 1 star is for I guess.
There were 2 positive things about this book: The characters were well developed and it motivated me to attend church.
Other than that, I did not like this book at all. In the beginning, I was really into it until I realized about 20% through that the entire book was written that way.
There was only one paragraph in the book that had properly written dialogue. The rest of it was in the middle of paragraphs and was not properly written or displayed.
I am no author, editor or publisher, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know when dialogue is written completely wrong.
Another issue I had with the book was the numerous amount of characters. Not only were there way too many characters (for me), but each one had their own chapters. That was a bit excessive.
The book would go from past tense to present tense in one paragraph and this is the first book I've read with hashtags for no apparent reason. I pray it is also the last. I could understand if the author was quoting a text or something on social media, but it would come at the end of a chapter.
The thing that annoyed me the most was the characters were repeating the same thing...in the same paragraph...in different ways. Once I started to notice that, I noticed how much it occurred and a few times it made me want to stop reading the book altogether.
Example: I am so hungry I could eat a horse. I decided to go to the store and grab something to eat. I am starving. I threw a few frozen pizzas in the cart. I am so hungry I feel like I could eat anything. I checked out my items and headed home. I am so hungry I could eat my own arm.
The characters in this Book are a trip! Everybody that went to church was a hoe lol nobody had room to judge anybody. I hope it's going to be a pt 2, because I really want to know what Angie gonna do. she was the ONLY clean and save person in the book lol. But Temptation really is a B****!
