Irony is the opposite of wrinkly. A Load of Trouble is a fan-generated, stand-alone cozy mystery! A Load of Trouble and a basket of suspects. Can Matty and her family iron out the wrinkled truth before she becomes the next stain? What do a dumpster diving thriftster, a cross-eyed cat, a hunting guide, a flaky paper goods tester, and an octogenarian with mad skills, have in common? The death of the laundromat owner and an 85th birthday party. Diving for unique finds to make one-of-a-kind wind chimes, in Whistle Stop, Vermont is just a small load of Matty’s day, when amateur sleuthing threatens to drown her in dirty laundry. Can she wring out the clues to catch the culprit in her trailer park, or will she tap out with the wash water? I was not impressed with this book at all . It seemed more like a high school creative writing assignment than a published book. There was no building or development of characters, the overuse of italics were most off-putting, the storyline lacked luster and it was pretty predictable. I had to struggle to get through it. The author even disclosed the “villain” halfway through and it seemed like the rest of the story was only filler and fluff and has nothing to do with anything. This is the second series I had read by this author, I gave her a second chance after the first series, and I regret it. Save your book money and spend it on something else. If a good mystery, with well developed characters, a good solid plot line and surprise endings are your idea of a good book, you will not find it here.
A nice little mystery with some quirky and interesting characters with a cool secret at the end. Rhoda Pearl was such a hoot and Matty was definitely different from any main character I’ve ever read about, lol. It’ll be interesting to see what Matty, Jack, Rhoda Pearl and Spin the cat get into next time.
A wonderful book, the storyline was entertaining and the characters were delightful. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
An interesting medley of suspects, clues and sleuthing. Quirky characters and situations made for fun reading. If you like fun cozies this is your book.
A fun, quick read! Quirky characters keep this book flowing, along with the interesting mystery to solve. A lovely afternoon spent in an entertaining and lively world.
I have read the quilting series, a different concept. Nice story. The characters are eccentric. Nice mystery thrown in with a cat who gives them clues.
I loved this book! I loved how the author used suggestions from her fans to create this cozy mystery. They always say everything happens in the trailer park.
.Come and join Matty as she tries to find a murderer
Join Matty and her soon to be 85 year old Aunt Rhoda Pearl as they try to figure out who killed Fred the laundry mat owner. Why would they have to solve this crime you ask, well to get the officer in charge of the case to stop bothering Matty’s sister Esmeralda of corse, he thinks she’s guilty of this crime. To find out for yourself I recommend you read this book as soon as you possibly can.
