Roxanne is a tough cop who only thinks she knows everything about her tempting and temperamental boss, Chief Martin. But when the two of them are on an undercover assignment in a BDSM club, Roxanne allows jealousy to push her into a deadly situation, spurring the Chief to reveal his true nature.
This is a frisky little read with BDSM elements, where the cop thinks she's in charge of: her emotions, her body, and her will. She finds out that he can turn the tides within her and just maybe it's where she belonged all along.
Would love to see more adventures with this couple...hint hint.
Or is that…‘bend over and assume the position’? I get those two confused, but Chief of Police, Kent Martin knows the difference and he puts sexy police Officer Roxanne Morgan through the drill. Roxanne is headstrong and her raging libido has a mind of it’s own. She’s supposed to be undercover on a stakeout at the Escape, a popular nightclub, to tempt a serial killer. The Chief thought sending in one of the department’s finest, in more ways than one, dressed to kill seemed like a good idea at the time. But thanks to Roxanne’s secret lust for Chief Martin and her simmering temperament, she walks right into trouble. This is a quick read, but it’s has a sexy swagger I thoroughly enjoyed. It also sets the stage quite well for the next book in the series - ‘Dirty Little Game’. My favorite line in the book was – ‘Her mouth welcomed the hot liquid as it slid down her throat delivering instant gratification’. Wow, I had to re-read that part twice to make sure she was actually talking about coffee.
If you want fast, hard and gratifying, then The Escape needs to be added to your spank-bank list because Ms. Fox delivers. Oops, I mean added to your To-Be-Read list. Ok, now let’s play some Dirty Little Games.
The Escape was an erotic short that didn’t quite hit all the marks for me as a reader, but it was still work checking out for being Fox’s first release.
If you’re a reader looking for a story with some good BDSM elements, this might be for you. I’ve not inexperienced on the subject, so there’s not much that’ll shock me. With that said, a twist in this story threw me out of the a comfort zone of sorts. I’m a firm believer in reading and the writing of what we read being a form of escapism that can contain fantasies not acted out in everyday life. There’s a little leeway to what’s “ethical,” for lack of a better word. But, there was a part in the twist that just didn’t sit well for me and I think it was also due to the way it was written into the story.
Despite that, the rest of the story wasn’t off-putting. It had its sexy scene in it. The writing itself was good. I’d be interesting in reading a future release from Fox because I feel there’s still room to grow with the writing in this story. Some of it was run-of-the-mill for erotica. Nothing set it apart from the rest, but there’s potential here.
