Meg Little #1

Preppy Little Liars

Rate this book
Meg Little desperately wants to be editor in chief of the Haverton Gazette after the former editor resigns to complete a stint in rehab for a raging Adderall addiction.

When Margaret Bean, Haverton Prep’s star equestrian, is bucked from her horse two weeks before regionals, Meg believes she may have found the story that will win her the coveted position. Margaret’s a gold medal-winning rider—she doesn’t make mistakes.

But the rest of the school buys her fall as an accident. Even Meg’s best friend thinks the fall was innocuous—until Meg shows him a photo of Margaret’s horse sporting a cut saddle after the event. Clearly, the “accident” was sabotage.

Against Margaret’s wishes to let broken girls lie, Meg launches an investigation into the equestrian team. As regionals approaches, Meg learns the students of Haverton are far more dangerous than their plaid skirts and blazers suggest—and all the little liars on Margaret’s team have something to hide.

Amber Turner has been writing since before she could spell (those early stories were gold - she probably didn't spell one word correctly, not even her own name). She was a high school journalist, entertainment and copy editor, and majored in Global Journalism at Drexel University.

After college, she couldn't write anything but fanfic and took a couple of odd jobs that had nothing to do with her degree. She now works as a paralegal at a Cincinnati law firm (again, having nothing at all to do with her degree) and lives downtown just like one of the chicks from Sex and the City.

If the chicks from Sex and the City were all broke, shopped off the clearance racks at TJ Maxx and Walmart, and never had a single date.

Yeah... the similarities are astounding.

A really great mystery. It starts with Meg watching a horse competition for her school newpaper. She's writing the stories and her trusty sidekick Stephen is taking the picture. But after watching Bean go flying off her horse and get injured, they check the photos closer and realize this wasn't an accident!

Meg is a true detective and takes to the streets to find out who might have done it. She's spunky and aggressive, just trying to get answers. Stephen is a pretty cute side character and I enjoyed his humor.

A really great read and I enjoyed it, even if I did know "who done it" early on! The story and pace were great and I loved all the characters!

A hilarious and gripping young adult novel that had me laughed and shocked until the very last paragraph.

The main characters are just the right mix of likeable and believable as high school aged kids that you can't help but love.

Peppered with smart pop culture references, Amber Turner weaves a fun and delightful tale that will leave a lasting impression.

I really liked reading this book, it's interesting and fast pace. If you want a fun book to read then you can't go wrong reading this book, I highly recommend it. I'm happy that I was one of the first people to read this book and can't wait to read what's coming up next in the series.
