Louie Case is the wrong man to make angry.

A former celebrity body-guard, he's just been released from jail for throwing a rock star out of his hotel window.

But back on the streets of London, he's finding it hard to keep an even temper.

His beloved music teacher Clarissa Glendenning has been killed in a hit-and-run incident by three young joyriders.

But why are the police dragging their feet?

They have CCTV footage, they have the vehicle, and they have forensics, so why haven’t they made an arrest?

Louie is determined to find out.

And once Louie sees red, he won't stop until justice is done -- no matter how many people are in the way.

'Red Mist' is a punchy urban thriller, bringing a hint of Raymond Chandler into an urban London landscape. In Louie Case, crime fiction has a captivating new star -- Jack Reacher with a sense of humour.

'This is crime so hard boiled you'll break your teeth on it' - Scott Griffin, best-selling author of The Benefactor.

"Be warned: once you start reading Red Mist, you won't want to put it down. This is one of those edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting thrillers that grips you right up to the last word." - Colin Dunne author of 'Red Alert'.

I am reviewing the novella Red Mist by David Tomlinson which is an excellent thriller which I downloaded for free from kindle. This novella is rather short at around 60 pages but is well written & full of action. The story is set in London and the main character is a man who used to be a bodyguard to celebrities until he inadvertently pushed a rock star out of a 16th storey hotel. The rock star in question was shagging 2 girls who were around 14 & also he was giving them drugs. The bodyguard tried to do the right thing and get the girls away from him. He turned off the loud music that was playing and the rock star tried to shoot him with a smith & wesson revolver. It was the recoil from the gun that sent him over the balcony but his bodyguard got sent to prison anyway. When he gets out of prison he investigates the death of an old lady who was very dear to him. It appears she has been killed by a hit and run driver who stole a car belonging to a notorious drug dealer who gets a kick out of chopping people's ears off with a stanley knife. He does uncover that when the old lady died, a man was also run over who owed that drug dealer £2 million. The police rather dubiously have dropped the case and he suspects someone was paid off. There is a happy ending & I must admit if Tomlinson releases a full length novel on kindle I'll probably buy it. Finally I almost forgot to mention the bodyguard has to work in a seedy sex club as a bouncer when he gets out of jail. It's also a really gritty story with plenty of violence. I think it would make a good film.

This was a very well written novela, had me from the prologue. This story was not over the top, it had all of the correct twist and turns. Great character development and scene description. This is a short story that you will love..give this author a chance, trust me you could do far worse than curling up with this book and spending an afternoon.. A solid 4.5 Stars.. Really surprised me I did not expect to enjoy it this much.. As you all know I don't write reviews like the bulk of the people who cut and paste the synopsis of the book.. I never understood why they do that? Well these are my honest opinions and stated in lay mans terms.. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts about Red Mist.

Former celebrity bodyguard Louie Case has just been released from prison having inadvertently thrown a former client out of a window. He confronts his anger issues by, amongst other things, painting pottery and taking music lessons. When his music teacher is killed in a hit and run he sets out to find who is responsible.

This is a sharply written novella with a strong plot, memorable characters and some great comic moments. It's rather let down by a tide of homophone errors but if you can ignore those it's a great story.
