A short fun adventure where I found myself really invested in the characters. I was even surprised by an ending that I would not have expected from a Western, which was a pleasant turn of events.
I'm not familiar with any of Adams' other works, but I do hope that Frank Shade shows back up at some point in his other novels.
Fun story, left some loop holes throughout but overall faithful to the plot. Not a bad ending although maybe a tad predictable and not quite clever. Very little descriptions of the surrounding nature, as always. The setting therefore was pretty bland.
I have yet to be disappointed with any of Clifton Adams work. This is a nice range mystery with Frank Shade, a railroad detective on the trail of a faceless killer.
