This book is one of those many finds I came across on my travels (read hunt high and low for new and unsuspecting book shops) and I will admit its a bit of a strange one. Yes there are more than enough encyclopaedias and reference books than is humanly possible to read out there on just about every genre and sub genre going HOWEVER this one caught my eye. Yes it is dated (and for those who query that its age) and yes it is far from complete but apart from its near mint condition the reason why I gave it such a high mark was the content. Too many of these sorts of books copy and rehash the same material (in more than one in fact I have read exactly the same entry but credited to totally different authors) but this one is totally different. It references books both old and new (well at least up to the date of publishing) with equal mixes of both but also it pays attention to material outside the US in fact there is a fair amount of British references too which is good to see (and gives me a fighting chance to find). So even though its old, incomplete and with the age of the internet out classed - it provides a perspective I have not seen for a very long time and hence why it caught my attention and my praise.
